If you put bollards up will they be able to park along side them on the other drive way?

Ok so now you have an admission that the CFNs business is causing a little cal nuisance OP. Now you go to the council, along with as many other neighbours as will participate, and you make it clear that the traffic issues are causing a problem. They will investigate and quite possibly EXPECT CFN to relocate to commercial premises.

You could always play the long game, report them to the council, then let them keep parking but keep a log/take photos, tell them your going to report them to the council with a view to getting them closed down if it don't stop.
An x ran a tea rooms in an area that didn't have that much in the way of parking problems, but the council said she had to be closed by 5pm on a couple of times when she ran over that by a few mins, she was reported and the council came down on her very hard.

RedBlu · 27/07/2017 17:55

We have a woman running a dog grooming business from home a couple of doors down from us. We also have issues with the parking of her clients, they seem to have no issue either parking on our drive or totally blocking us in by parking behind us!

If I confront them I usually get told that they will only be five minutes - er no move it! Most seem to have got the message so it doesn't happen too often but it pisses me off that she has never apologised despite the fact I know she knows it happens.

We have a security camera pointed at our drive, so we can see when it happens. Got a nice picture/screenshot of someone's partly shaved dog wandering up my drive the other day....

Therefore I conclude that most dog groomers are inconsiderate twats!

This is now on email and probably on MN FB

think it would be good if Daily Fail got this story

WoofWoofMooWoof · 27/07/2017 18:08

Good that the car is gone, but we still don't know about the wheels! And I'm assuming the thieves wore gloves so they didn't leave any fingerprints.

iogo · 27/07/2017 18:18

I NEED to know what happened to the wheels!

ClearEyesFullHearts · 27/07/2017 18:18

MadHugger, between your Jean Lic memes and this ((((((((Hugs)))))))), you're kinda making my day.

WinchestersInATardis · 27/07/2017 18:18

The thing that's so utterly ridiculous is that most neighbours don't mind doing favours on the parking front if asked nicely.
We used to have our own driveway (but no car) a few years back on a very busy estate with little parking. It was quite set back from road with fence so obviously for our house and any car parked would be right at our front door and kitchen window.
Occasionally neighbours wpuld ask if they or their visitors could park if parking were particularly bad that day, and that was fine. But we then started getting a random car parking regularly both overnight and during the day and couldn't find who it belonged to (left notes and all).
Finally DH caught the driver coming back. She lived a road up and thought it was very unfair that we were getting difficult about her using the drive when she knew we didn't have a car. She got an earful.
Thing is, if she'd asked nicely, we'd not have minded her using it occasionally like the other neighbours.

Can you get CCTV and signs (times two so she doesn't direct people to your other space saying:

This is PRIVATE PROPERTY.
Anyone found parking here will be fined £50 per ten minutes or part thereof. Parking here is taken as acceptance of these terms
CLIENTS AND STAFF OF CFN ARE NOT EXCLUDED FROM THESE TERMS

That should make it nice and pointed as to who is making trouble.

Also in a few days can you get them a nice new client. They will need to email to find out about directions and parking and you will have some lovely extra evidence to tasks to the council.

ahhhhhwoof · 27/07/2017 18:25

Placemarking 😬

worridmum · 27/07/2017 18:38

is it criminal damage if someone has abandoned a car on your properoty and you are painting the front of the house and the tin of paint accidently lands on the car and covers it in floresinate yellow paint?

StarlitTrees · 27/07/2017 18:42

Is the lack of detail in the updates intentional? HmmConfused

AlphaBites · 27/07/2017 18:44

CCTV is going up this weekend and a drop style bollard when we can sort someone to come out and install it.

  1. No one has a right to use your property without your express permission, you should have said no when he said 'no parking but clients can still drop off.'
  2. The car was abandoned, you should have called the police as soon as it was clear the neighbour and employee had left the area.
  3. Chain across the drive and a bollard as soon as possible.
  4. Call council about the traffic problem that neighbour's business is causing.
Sugarpiehoneyeye · 27/07/2017 18:52

Will you have one installed in your other drive as well OP ?

LakieLady · 27/07/2017 18:57

Great that the car has gone, but I think you should have videoed the CFN exchange of views and posted it on YouTube.

Can't believe the audacity the CFN and CFNE.

Well done, OP.

Littlecaf · 27/07/2017 18:58

We have a problem with a lovely (she really is v nice) childminder opposite us and her parents parking. She has two under two during the day plus one or two more then does school pick ups etc. Her hours are from 7.30 til about 7. So that's maybe 5 sets of parents leaving their cars running or parking across driveways 5 days of the week. She now employs a helper so that's 10 kids, 10 sets of parents, 20 drop offs & pick ups. One neighbour repeatedly gets parents parking over or on his drive, seriously right on his drive. What is wrong with people?

horsefeathers · 27/07/2017 18:58

Yes, do take care when making a neighbour issue 'official' - can cause you a headache if you ever want to sell your house. Which isn't to say you should never do it, but it's the nuclear option. Make sure it's worth it to you and there isn't some other way you can stop them. I'd put up bollards personally.

PutTheBunnyBackInTheBox · 27/07/2017 18:59

StarlitTrees

Is the lack of detail in the updates intentional?

Judging by the post after yours, I'd say yes...

horsefeathers · 27/07/2017 18:59

Oh sorry, just seen you're getting one.

DontOpenDeadInside · 27/07/2017 19:07

I find it strange that a thread can reach 1400+ posts and the op has only posted a handful of times with minimal information.
