To be completely appalled by the way the Jehovah's Witnesses have handled this?

I probably am, aren't I, after all the other scandals in large religious organisations?

Didn't know they were registered as a charity though, how do you explain that one?

I am not surprised.
They're not a "large religious organisation", they're a cult.
They have the same patriarchal structures that the Catholic Church has, that enable sexual abuse, and on top of that, their members aren't allowed to socialize with outsiders, which means they can keep things quiet even better than a regular Church.

I thought all religions were 'charities' for tax reasons. Could be talking nonsense though.
