...highlighting my vulva!?

Prideinmyplace2 · 24/07/2017 23:35

My first thread, so please bear with me.

AIBU to ask what in the world is going on when there's a new product launching this Thursday to highlight vulvas (Not Volvos)!?

I think it's called PerfectV and it's certainly not for victory. Not for women anyway. I understand it's supposed to be some sort of beauty product that helps sort your V out after all the waxing, piercing, vajewelling, etc that goes on down there!

Is it healthy to highlight vulvas? I doubt it very much...

This is all part of the industry that encourages perfectly normal, healthy women to go under the knife in order to get their labia remodeled into what the porn industry has decided is desirable.

The sad and unfortunate thing is there are millions of women out there that will buy into this shit.

BartholinsSister · 26/07/2017 13:00

Except that the porn industry celebrates all shapes and sizes of labia.

Jivebunny89 · 26/07/2017 16:27

I'm not about to start putting more creams in my ladygarden than I do on my face.

paddlenorapaddle · 26/07/2017 17:38

Oh ffs porn star fanjo's gone mad our poor daughters we did a bang up job of freeing them from all this didn't we. Have it all but you have to do it all and even the way your fanjo looks is up for scrutiny!!!

morningconstitutional2017 · 26/07/2017 17:44

I expect someone's beaten me to this as I haven't read the whole thread, but really, what a load of bollocks.

ComputerUserNotTrained · 26/07/2017 17:44

Barth not that I have extensive experience, but the porn I've seen has indeed featured varied vulvas, and varied pubes. I'm not sure where the MN view that porn only features "neat", hairless vulvas/mons has come from tbh.

Stevewilts · 26/07/2017 17:48

They're launching a product for men called Perfect P (TM) designed to be rubbed into the male crotch area if manscaping and prevent razor burn
Comes in a handy receptacle and also doubles up as a lubricant
Has to be massaged in by hand though

damewithaname · 26/07/2017 17:52

Maybe it's for the new trend coming...the Sel"V"ie

pollymere · 26/07/2017 17:54

I'm not sure who'd get to see the efforts! Surprise for your GP maybe??

LifeOnFire · 26/07/2017 17:57

I didn't realise what awesome humour I was about to encounter when I galloped over to see what this thread is all about. So, thanks for the late afternoon lift, particularly as the weather's crap here and I succumbed to a microwave mug cake.. anyway, just to echo most of you: who the hell actually has the high ground on what a 'perfect' (ffs) vulva should look like? Sindy's creators? And really, the 'beauty' industry has been scaring us into believing shi1 for as long as... back in the 1920s women had wax injections to shape their inelegant noses into Roman profiles (wax + heat = messy trapped bulge in lower jawline)and they even ate tape worms to save the tedious business of getting 'thin'. On one hand "yawn' bog off, 'beauty' providers, stop mesmerising us: on the other hand " 'grow up and take responsibility" - there are waaaay to many insecure folks out there, who might buy this latest version of snake oil in the hope that it will help them to feel safe and secure. It won't. That comes from a whole other place and it aint' manufactured in a marketing brunch. And really, you guys are the best... Pimp a Pube just made me howl... wonderful!

pixiepoopoo · 26/07/2017 18:00

Did someone suggest a clit highlighter ? Much needed. A clitorazzle perhaps

iMogster · 26/07/2017 18:01

Wait a minute DH, I just need to do my lippy first...

bbcessex · 26/07/2017 18:03

Are you sure you're not involved in promoting in some way, OP?

How would you know what 'woman founders' want

I'm sure it will die a death.. I don't see a massive queue for vajazzles at salons worldwide, no matter what the press would have us believe..

Shockers · 26/07/2017 18:10

I'm biding my time until cheesecloth, flares and full, magnificent bushes make a comeback.

I'll be fashionable again one day.

GinaFordCortina · 26/07/2017 18:13

I don't see how you could apply it yourself? Confused

And once you've taught your partner how to blend it he's already seen your horrific unhighlighted Vulva. So what's the point?

Scandinavian aesthetic' worries me too. As in light skin?

As for scandi aesthetic while I do love a nice print I don't see this catching on for vulvvas anytime soon

I think it is pathetic that 2 women would create such a product. It is good to know that some younger women are returning back to being all natural and not giving into societal pressures to shave, wax, etc, just to be more desirable for men. One young lady I know is very attractive and refuses to shave anywhere, not even the places most do (ie: armpits, legs below the knees) and she still is very successful in getting gorgeous boyfriends and is a really awesome person. I think society needs to let women be themselves, natural and beautiful and concentrate more on the person and not these superficial things. Personally I shave my legs and armpits, but not the other anymore, and my husband could care less (married 27 years here). So it depends on the individual and their partners I think what works for different people for that stuff. This thread was certainly fun to read though, lots of good giggles.

GinaFordCortina · 26/07/2017 18:14

THE op doesnt sound remotely attached to this. She sounds like a mner which means she knows this will go down like hot sick on MN

GlitterGlue · 26/07/2017 18:26

I refuse to believe that this is a genuine product. Surely it's a pisstake. (I hope it is.)

RowRowRowtheFookingBoat · 26/07/2017 18:34

OP do you work in comms? Cos you say your not affiliated with this shite but your name suggests you might be Hmm

smilingontheinside · 26/07/2017 18:40

This thread has had me howling with laughter. Must show to DD later (if only to see the embarrassment on her face when she thinks her ancient mother even knows what this about Grin

alypoole · 26/07/2017 18:40

Have you read "Bonjela on my fanjo"?. That thread's hysterical tooSmile

Mrstiggywink49 · 26/07/2017 18:44

If anyone feels insecure about their body shape, bush size, labia etc etc may i suggest you join a Life Drawing Class, there you will see ALL shapes and sizes of everything displayed with confidence by the models who know they are very much appreciated by the artists. Indeed they usually get a round of applause at the end and many thanks as they walk around, often starkers, looking at the drawings. Artists'models rarely feel the need to bejewel or shape or wax til bald....they are as nature intended and all the more attractive for that.

thespywholovedme · 26/07/2017 18:46

Glitterglue I thought so too so I googled it. It's real Shock

Not sure whether I'm most shocked that there is now a range of beauty products for my fanjo, or at the price. £35 for anti-ageing fanjo serum Shock Shock. And I'm speaking as someone who has been known to spend upwards of £100 per product on my face & neck.

Also suspect that the OP is from the pr team handling the launch Grin

OhLaVache · 26/07/2017 19:16

OP - blatantly you are doing some slick
comms stunt here. Come on.

Bobbi73 · 26/07/2017 19:17

EXFOLIATING!! 😫
