Neighbours washing line

175 replies

TheFlamingo · 23/07/2017 11:08

I live in a flat, each flat has a it's own washing line outside of the front door, there are 5 flats on my floor, the neighbour 3 doors down keeps hanging her washing up outside my house, so she's choosing not to use hers and to pass 2 other neighbours to hang it on my line!! I've spoken to her about it but she said she's lived her for 5 years and has always done it, and basically is going to continue to do it, I don't like having washing hanging up outside my front door so I don't use it for mine so I sure don't want to have to see others washing hanging up, also cos of the way the lines are it means you have to literally walk through the washing to get in and out, she hangs her husbands pants outside my door and all sorts! Wibu to report her to the council and would they do anything?? Wwyd?

I'd want to put them in a bin bag and dump at her door but I'd be too scared. Vaseline smeared all along the line might have an effect though.

Natty13 · 15/04/2022 16:42

@TheFlamingo

That she's done it for 5 years and always has, I said well I'm here now and want her to stop doing it all I really got was she's always done it she wouldn't agree to not doing it
Then you have to make her. Simple as. Stuff like this is a battle of wills and you have to be the bigger B. I dont have a problem with people like this because I'd have told her after the first time she refused "any more and i will be taking them off myself". And so on. What can she do if you keep bagging up her washing and leaving it in a wet pile at her door?
tkwal · 15/04/2022 17:08

Yep, take your line down

Wowwwww · 15/04/2022 17:10

Rub burglar grease on the line

SoupDragon · 15/04/2022 17:13

OMG! It's from 2017!

Mountainpika · 15/04/2022 17:18

Wonder what happened.

BlueOverYellow · 15/04/2022 17:23

Buy some oversized pants and loud ugly clothes (charity shop?), get them wet in the sink (don't waste washing machine electrics on them) then hang them on the line outside her door. Daily.

TempName01 · 15/04/2022 17:26

Yes agree with PP, get some huge knickers or crotchless thongs and ugly clothes to peg outside her door!

TempName01 · 15/04/2022 17:26

Oh zombie 🙄

PhilipMumsnet · 15/04/2022 17:28

Hello everyone,
Just a little note to let you know that this is a "zombie" thread as some posters have already pointed out. It's nearly five years old.
Best wishes,
MNHQ

VyeBrator · 15/04/2022 17:31

Why on earth aren't zombie threads locked after a year or so? That way they're still there for reading but no-one can bump them.

If the OP wants to update after a year they can start a new thread and link to it for reference.

BigBoyDunItAndRanAway · 15/04/2022 17:41

Hehehe was expecting a zombie thread update to tell us all about the "washing line murder" Wink How disappointing!

Georgyporky · 15/04/2022 17:43

Just remove it & dump it on the ground outside her door - spread it out a bit so it all gets dirty.

Georgyporky · 15/04/2022 17:45

"Why on earth aren't zombie threads locked after a year or so? That way they're still there for reading but no-one can bump them."

Exactly.

Toomanyradishes · 15/04/2022 17:50

You can get sheets and tablecloths from charity shops and leave them hung up

Toomanyradishes · 15/04/2022 17:51

Ffs im normally better at checking the date on the opening post

Fulmine · 15/04/2022 18:01

@TheFlamingo

Well I have started seeing someone recently and he was confused why I had men's pants hanging outside my house, anyway i can't cut the line as it's also my next door neighbours line (not the neighbour in the op) so it's a long line the stretches between hers and mine you can take it down to put the washing on the put it back up on the hook when you've done (hard to explain) but once it's on the hook it's two different lines so my side and her side
So move the hook so it's only on your neighbour's side.
viques · 15/04/2022 18:05

@Ceto

Don't spray the clothes with bleach, that's criminal damage.

Putting gel bleach on the washing line, however, isn't ...

I would get a super soaker and soak her washing every half an hour with water though, not bleach, , the penny might drop that washing on your line never dries.
ChardonnaysPetDragon · 15/04/2022 18:05

Bunting and fairy lights!

viques · 15/04/2022 18:06

@Mountainpika

Wonder what happened.
With the new man or the washing? Hope both had a happy outcome.
Fulmine · 15/04/2022 18:06

Oh, damn. And I even responded under another name n 2017 Easter Sad

Staffy1 · 15/04/2022 18:18

Hang something decorative on the line outside your house.

Crankley · 15/04/2022 18:23

Why have you dragged up a zombie thread from 2017 FFS! Complete waste of time.

RumpoleoftheBaileys · 15/04/2022 18:27

Hi all,
We are closing this thread as this is a thread from 2017 and we don't think the OP would want it resurfacing again.
