I'm so slow. Sorry.

cozietoesie · 28/07/2017 22:07

Not without blood on the walls, I reckon.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 28/07/2017 22:08

I don't think Trump would dare fire Bannon.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 28/07/2017 22:09

Jeez, there's some really. weird pro-Trump posters and religious memes under that Trump Kelly tweet.

cozietoesie · 28/07/2017 22:10

Not with Breitbart and the base looming, he wouldn't. Wink

cozietoesie · 28/07/2017 22:11

But then, I've thought before that he 'wouldn't do something.' The man has the savvy of a frozen pea.

BossyBitch · 28/07/2017 22:12

Also, how slowly does Il Douche type?

The announcement is a three-parter. 5 minutes between parts 1 and 2 and 6 minutes between 2 and 3. Thanking Priebus seems almost like an afterthought.

Gumpendorf · 28/07/2017 22:12

@SarahKendizor. Big issue isn't that Reince is out, it's who will replace Kelly as Trump encourages brutality from all levels of law enforcement

cozietoesie · 28/07/2017 22:14

This smells like a Sessions substitute move.

BossyBitch · 28/07/2017 22:17

cozietoesie I suspect you may be right. Not quite sure how I feel about it, though:

On the one hand, getting rid of Sessions might finally push the GOP over the edge.

OTOH, that's what I always think will happen, and what usually happens instead is that he gets away with it and only feels encouraged to go even lower.

I'm at my wit's end with this one - and predicting the next move of irrational morons is basically part of my day job.

cozietoesie · 28/07/2017 22:21

I think it's a 'cleansing of the old guard'. Sessions and Bannon are still in the firing line.

Gumpendorf · 28/07/2017 22:21

This smells like a Sessions substitute move.

Ooh, cozie. Now that's an interesting thought.

cozietoesie · 28/07/2017 22:22

Isn't it though? Wink

BossyBitch · 28/07/2017 22:27

I think this would actually make Priebus the shortest serving Chief of Staff in White House history - not counting the gap-fillers who never officially held the post.

That comes right on the heels of the shortest serving National Security Advisor in history.

The coming and going at that place is starting to look a lot like a Vegas wedding chapel.

orlantina · 28/07/2017 22:27

Well, it's been 6 months. Time for a change.

The West Wing was never like this.

Spicer and Priebus are GOP appointments. I don't think they've ever truly been Trump. They were there to normalise and guide but obviously couldn't do that.

Their departures probably herald a schism between Trump and the GOP - they failed to deliver healthcare and probably won't be able to deliver the type of budget he wants.

Otoh, they have presented him with a Russian sanctions bill that he doesn't want and are making noises about what will happen if Sessions and Mueller are fired. Expect Trump to move even more quickly towards autocracy. Sad

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 28/07/2017 22:30

My only experience of a chief of staff is Leo in the West Wing. Blush

Is it normal for the chief of staff to be military? It just seems odd. I thought it was supposed to be or better to be someone with close ties to Congress.

How can a retired General do that?

Gumpendorf · 28/07/2017 22:32

Well, it's been 6 months.

It seems like 6 years, orlantina. Angry

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 28/07/2017 22:33

What I mean is, how can a retired General help Trump politically or with relationships with Congress and the GOP?

PerkingFaintly · 28/07/2017 22:39

I imagine it will speed up from here, as each new wave promises 45 all his problems are being caused by the last lot.

Until some stable cabal finds some engaging toys and a playpen to keep 45 happy (any of his clubs or golf courses), while they do the "boring admin work dealing with the swamp, Mr President, you just go off and enjoy yourself, you've earned it."

He'll be glad to ditch the work, while continuing to appear occasionally to specially arranged cheering crowds. And they'll rule among themselves.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 28/07/2017 22:40

Ooh! That's an uncalled for slur on frozen peas Cozie Wink

PerkingFaintly · 28/07/2017 22:41

Sorry, that's just a bedtime nightmare.

At this time of night, I can't remember the mechanics of US politics and how it deals with a disengaged president (eg RR with dementia).

CaveMum · 28/07/2017 22:41

Yup, all my references to White House Staff right now come from West Wing. Honestly I think the actors from the show would do a better job than this bunch of imbeciles!

saffronwblue · 28/07/2017 22:41

Wonder if Melania willl be inspired by mrs Mooch's decisive actions?
