The transgender announcement was "Look!! A fish!!" to get the media (and the public) to look the other way from the healthcare vote. We may have looked the other way, but luckily the GOP dissenting votes did not.

What happened to magnitsky is horrifying and should illuminate why we don't want to give up rule of law, tolerance (of dissent in this case), freedom of press and being anti-corruption. All of which you'd think would be pretty obvious anyway but clearly we have a greater tolerance to those things as long as those degrading these values claim to slay our bogeymen at the same time.
