Public toilets - sit or hover?

Do you sit, hover or play it by ear? Grin

I think you are right moutonfou

Topbananaa · 23/07/2017 12:57

Hover every time

JacquesHammer · 23/07/2017 13:00

Remember there was a test of peanuts in a bowl on a bar - they found 30 different pees on them - imagine what they would find lurking on a bog seat [shocked]

Yeah. But unlike peanuts in a bowl, I am not going near a loo seat with my mouth...

Pericombobulations · 23/07/2017 13:03

Due to a mother obsessed with germs I learnt to always hover. I always make sure if I have hit the seat, to wipe it afterwards.

To Lonicera, my mums repeated mentions of "always hover" and "have you washed your hands" have contributed to my OCD. I sadly was not blessed with a daughter and have gone out of my way to make sure my son doesnt hear the same things from me and he is a fan of the 5 second rule, I dont stop him as I know its my OCD.

But sitting on a public toilet has only happened when I was too ill to stand. I only sit on the one at work if I really have to. I sometimes hover at home, as its quicker to do so now.

"Yeah. But unlike peanuts in a bowl, I am not going near a loo seat with my mouth..."

You kind of get that impression from some of the odder posts on here though.

SnickersWasAHorse · 23/07/2017 14:23

Of your hands. If you don't spend 20 minutes pissing about with tissue paper then you don't actually touch the toilet at all with your hands, only your thighs.

SnickersWasAHorse · 23/07/2017 14:23

or your hands I mean, not of.

VladmirsPoutine · 23/07/2017 14:30

Horses for courses, I suppose. To me (sitting) is one of the most disgusting things I've ever heard of. It's a bit like eating someone's vomit from the street but there you go. Each to their own.

Madbengalmum · 23/07/2017 14:34

Put tissue on the seat and sit.

Migraleve · 23/07/2017 14:35

It's a bit like eating someone's vomit from the street

Unless you eat the toilet seat after use I can't see any similarities there Confused

SnickersWasAHorse · 23/07/2017 14:39

It's nothing like eating vomit. What a ridiculous comparison. That goes to show how divorced from reality some people are.

VladmirsPoutine · 23/07/2017 14:52

I did say that each person is allowed their own personal choice. If that means sitting for some then go for it. For me it's disgusting. It's a bit like sharing a needle with an addict but there you go. I'd never sit. Don't think I could be payed to be convinced otherwise at all even. It's frankly disgusting imo.

squoosh · 23/07/2017 14:56

Oh come on, surely you can be a bit more hysterical than that. Let's try 'it's a bit like getting someone to shit in your mouth' or 'it's a bit like jumping into the sewer and guzzling all the turds'.

squoosh · 23/07/2017 14:57

It's a bit like sharing a needle with an addict but there you go.

EXCEPT THAT IT'S NOTHING LIKE THAT.

Honestly, seek professional help you weirdo.

Sparklingbrook · 23/07/2017 15:00

Those two comparisons are very odd. Eating vomit and sharing needles with an addict are the same as sitting your thighs on a loo seat?

Not for me they aren't.

VladmirsPoutine · 23/07/2017 15:01

Honestly, seek professional help you weirdo.

Nope. But I would urge anyone that feels the need to call other people disparaging names on an internet forum to seek help. I've said everyone can choose what they want and described my personal view of it. I won't, however, call you names. Because as shocking as it is - I understand that people live their lives differently from me even if some of their choices at times baffle me. HTH.

Kind regards,

Vlad aka Weirdo

OverlyYappy · 23/07/2017 15:04

Avoid but if pushed hover

squoosh · 23/07/2017 15:06

I'm sorry but when you are making completely stupid comparisons (and presumably you've managed to convince yourself they make sense) I really think professional help is the way to go. There's a reason there are health initiatives and needle swap programmes encouraging addicts not to share needles. Because it can be life threatening. But I can't recall ever seeing such advice for sitting on a toilet. Because sitting on a toilet is in no way hazardous to one's health.

HTH.

SnickersWasAHorse · 23/07/2017 15:13

No it isn't.
Needles are inserted into your skin.
Sitting on a toilet is your skin touching somewhere where someone else's skin has been.

Ollivander84 · 23/07/2017 15:36

Sit. You aren't going to catch an STI, crabs or anything from a toilet seat. If it's wet I wipe it before I go but that's it. And my immune system is shot but I still have never caught anything from a toilet seat Confused

ConstanceCraving · 23/07/2017 15:39

It's not about catching something. I know that it's unlikely. It just feels weird sitting in a toilet that many other arses have sat on!
Some of them which will be minting!

ConstanceCraving · 23/07/2017 15:40

Minging Grin

SaucySpider · 23/07/2017 15:43

I always carry wet wipes so I give the seat a quick wipe, dr.y with paper then sit

Migraleve · 23/07/2017 15:44

It's a bit like sharing a needle with an addict

Hmm give your head a wobble

Sparklingbrook · 23/07/2017 15:44

All this seat wiping and drying. No wonder the Ladies loos always have a queue. Grin
