To want to find out what school this is?

fosterdoris · 21/07/2017 17:42

I know it's the last day of term and I know they work really hard and it must be a massively stressful job that I would never have the resilience to do in a million years
BUT
A group of teachers are sitting at the table next to me in pub garden - clearly had a good few and loudly slagging off discussing colleagues and end of term presents in a really judge pants really not very nice way.
Is it U to think that type of conversation / behaviour should be a little bit more private and not loudly in a pub garden before 5pm where there are lots of children present?

If you don't know what school it is, why is it a problem? Shock horror, people whinge about their jobs in pubs...

Witsender · 21/07/2017 17:46

Not sure what you would report them for tbh. And what a headteacher would do? They're not at work, not in uniform etc.

AnguaResurgam · 21/07/2017 17:47

I think it is unprofessional when in a public place. Same for many professions.

You slag off have frank exchanges in private, not in the Liddell of a public house.

GeillisTheWitch · 21/07/2017 17:48

YANBU to think they should be more discreet. Slagging off presents given by the kids is unprofessional in public. I wouldn't do anything to track the school down though, for one thing nobody will be there now anyway. I'd let it go.

LaurieFairyCake · 21/07/2017 17:49

Yes it's unprofessional but it's not illegal

But of course reporting it to the school is ridiculous

Sittinginthesun · 21/07/2017 17:50

I think most teachers are currently sitting in a pub garden right now. I know our primary school are, but they don't strike me the bitchy sort.

Anasnake · 21/07/2017 17:50

Ffs mind your own business

BikeRunSki · 21/07/2017 17:50

Workers discussing their coworkers in a pub, after hours, with no recognisable means of the public identifying the organisation they work for. Crime of the century. Never done it myself

Farahilda · 21/07/2017 17:52

She was minding her own business ... until the loud identifiable slagging off began.

Yes, tell the school. Not to stop teachers decompressing, but to get them to be less indiscreet. This is highly unprofessional when anyone could be listening in.

RebelRogue · 21/07/2017 17:56

How do you know the HT wasn't with them?Grin

DotForShort · 21/07/2017 17:58

Why do you want to know which school it is? If you'd prefer not to send your own children to that school, fair enough. If you have any intention to report the teachers to someone, wind your neck in.

Imspartacusforreal · 21/07/2017 17:58

Mind your own business I'd say. I think they can talk about what they like, they're not breaking the law.

Ilovewillow · 21/07/2017 18:01

Yet to buy a present for the teacher (we don't finish until Tuesday) so I would like to know what they receive that was so awful so I can avoid it!

Rainuntilseptember15 · 21/07/2017 18:02

Teachers can be disciplined for this sort of thing. If you think it warrants wrecking their career over it, go ahead.

HoneyDragon · 21/07/2017 18:14

Universal harmony here only so many pubs to go around so all the teachers and parents end up in the same one and all jointly moan about the kids

donquixotedelamancha · 21/07/2017 18:24

It would be indiscreet if there were children or parents at their school immediately nearby.

Listening in on a private conversation (even one not held quietly) and then hunting down the workplace of the people involved would be creepy in the extreme.

I never thought I'd do this, but I think this warrants it: Biscuit

DriveInSaturday · 21/07/2017 18:27

Farahilde, how can it be 'loud identifiable slagging off' if the OP can't identify the school?

MooPointCowsOpinion · 21/07/2017 18:28

Would you want to tell on any profession sat in a pub having a whinge, or is it just us teachers who aren't allowed to drink and talk in public?

Teachers are held to impossible standards, it's infuriating, I can't go to the fucking shop without people passing comment let alone the local pub.

Saiman · 21/07/2017 18:30

Ffs get a life. Its not identifying, so no issue. Let them be the average person. You are aware they are just people yes?

Notknownatthisaddress · 21/07/2017 18:34

@Farahilda

She was minding her own business ... until the loud identifiable slagging off began.

It's not identifiable is it, if the OP is asking what school it is! Confused

Still, I wouldn't give it a second thought, and it's naff-all to do with the OP.

The OP sounds like the sort who complains about everything on tv, and complains about every last tiny complaint in every shop, and who would travel 10 miles back to a shop who shortchanged her by a penny.

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 21/07/2017 18:34

Oh FFS. Don't be ridiculous. They were sitting in a pub letting of steam at the end of a busy and probably stressful year. They were probably just just having a laugh. It's not like they were naming students or their school. It no wonder teachers are leaving the profession in droves with this kind of shit.

fosterdoris · 21/07/2017 18:48

I didn't say I was going to report it - I can't can I because I don't know where they're from.
My point was they work in a public role and imo should be more discreet.
Totally aware it's none of my business but loud voices in a public environment are hardly avoidable

OP posts:
fosterdoris · 21/07/2017 18:50

farahilda - really?! Oh how little you know

OP posts:
fosterdoris · 21/07/2017 18:58

Sorry Farahilda - got your post confused - I wasn't addressing you

Mrsglitterfairy · 21/07/2017 19:02

Get over it. Sorry but I think you are being VU. I work in a customer service role and we go out you may hear us slagging off talking about our place of work or customers.
As long as they are out of school and the children and/or parents are not nearby then it really doesn't matter. They are entitled to wind down as much as the next person.
I know my DCs teachers are going out tonight and they'll probably be slagging us all off haha!
