To want to find out what school this is?

I know it's the last day of term and I know they work really hard and it must be a massively stressful job that I would never have the resilience to do in a million years
BUT
A group of teachers are sitting at the table next to me in pub garden - clearly had a good few and loudly slagging off discussing colleagues and end of term presents in a really judge pants really not very nice way.
Is it U to think that type of conversation / behaviour should be a little bit more private and not loudly in a pub garden before 5pm where there are lots of children present?

Lighten up - fact is, you'd have NO issue with this whatsoever if is was a group of people from the local supermarket/ bank/ whatever. It is just because they are teachers and professionals that it matters... Just be glad they weren't discussing pupils in the beer garden I was earlier. Plus, if we're being judgey, what were you doing in the pub on a Friday afternoon if you're such an upstanding member of society???

ThePlatypusAlwaysTriumphs · 21/07/2017 20:07

Poor teachers. I can totally understand why working with OPC (Other Peoples Children) would result in a need to cut loose with alcohol and lots of sweary words. Don't worry, OP, it's my guess they travelled 20 miles to find a pub where there weren't likely to be any parents they knew!! I was speaking to a teacher tonight and saying it must be hell to live local to your school- turns out few of them do, for that very reason!!

AccrualIntentions · 21/07/2017 20:10

It's a bit unprofessional, I agree. But you couldn't identify the school they were talking about so I really don't think it matters.

The80sweregreat · 21/07/2017 20:13

I bet the school and the pub are miles from each other.

mugginmeoff · 21/07/2017 20:14

Shit call the fun police. We all moan about work. Let them enjoy their night you kill joy!!

Piratesandpants · 21/07/2017 20:16

I have never, ever, in 20 years heard a teacher say anything other than positive and delighted things about any card or gift they have received.
They all slag off SLT though Grin

The80sweregreat · 21/07/2017 20:20

What is SLT ?

@fosterdoris
I didn't say I was going to report it - I can't can I because I don't know where they're from.

If you don't intend to report it, why do you want to know what school they are from? You know, like you said in your THREAD TITLE!!! Hmm

@fosterdoris
There were a lot of very personal comments about colleagues - including comparisons about end of term gifts and why they had received these on he basis of their teaching ability. Interspersed with a lot of F's and C's .... in a kids play area of the pub garden

OMG have you nothing better to do than listen intently to other peoples conversations that are nothing to do with you, from people you don't even know??? Seriously, get a life! Hmm

Omg good fucking lord help me. I've received both silly and shite gifts today from students that I adore. I know amazing teachers that have had no gifts and 'not the best' teachers that have had all sorts of gifts. It's just part of the job which you obviously know noting about. Don't worry. We will all be replaced by robots soon and then you won't have to worry about our out of school human tendencies.

spanieleyes · 21/07/2017 20:51

Presumably if a child or the parents of a child they taught sat next to them, they might have lowered their voices ( or the parents might have joined in!)

Otherwise, who cares!

SteppingOnToes · 21/07/2017 21:04

This is why I hate kids in pubs - pubs are an escape for people from family life, other peoples kids there is just intrusive... Take the little darlings to soft play or McDs. But I will accept that most will tell me I am wrong ;)
