I know it's been done to death but I need to get this out

Scrumptious.

Fuck that word. Just fuck it.

It's a stupid, self indulgent sort of word.

"Oh isn't he SCRUMPTIOUS!" Angry

It's such a childish word somehow. So Mary Poppins.

Also

Meal

Banter/bants (DS, I am looking at you!)

ScrumDinger · 18/07/2017 19:32

Haven't even read the thread but I bet it's full of people being horrified at the word moist.

Tapandgo · 18/07/2017 19:34

Pee
Belly

Yah
Any words describing bowel habits (tmi)
Uninvited and unnecessary information thrown into random conversations e.g. 'I'm a christian', 'I'm a muslim', 'I'm gay' - just be, don't say unless it's relevant to the conversation going on.

Bants/Banter, as in "Oh, this is top bants, mum!"

Even DP's started saying it now after hearing the kids say it. Is it too late to escape?!

Admirablenelson · 18/07/2017 19:53

MrsHathaway · 18/07/2017 20:17

If I have 3 meals a day, what do you have?

It's acceptable to have three meals a day. It's when you don't specify a specific one that we gnash our teeth.

For example:

"Stop poking your brother with your fork and eat your meal."

Just say lunch (or whatever it is). It's the food equivalent of the phrase "family member" - in most situations it's appropriate to specify.

TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth · 18/07/2017 20:22

Thank you MrsH the "meal" confusion is now quite clear as mud Smile

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 18/07/2017 20:24

ShowOfHands · 18/07/2017 20:29

I hate words describing food or the act of eating. Anything other than "I ate..." makes me cringe. I nibbled or snacked or picked at or choked down my food for example. Or descriptions of morsels or soupcons or crumbs or slivers of food. Abbreviated food too. "We had spag bol and jacket pots for lunch so just nibbled at picky bits for tea." FUCK OFF.

I don't like other affectations either. People on aibu use this sort of throwaway tweeness in order to be judgy. "How hard is it to throw on some clean clothes" or "can't you just grab some fresh pasta". It's that faux casual type air. I'm aware I am odd btw.
