I know it's been done to death but I need to get this out

Scrumptious.

Fuck that word. Just fuck it.

It's a stupid, self indulgent sort of word.

"Oh isn't he SCRUMPTIOUS!" Angry

It's such a childish word somehow. So Mary Poppins.

Also

Meal

Yes to 'panties'. I find it a bit creepy and fetishy.

midsomermurderess · 19/07/2017 00:14

And I've just seen 'clunge' upthread. God, that is beyond the pale.

JustDontGetItAtAll · 19/07/2017 00:18

Trod,
lol (not technically a word, I know!),
Delicious 😡
Shag/shagged - Just awful!

I know these are two word 'expressions' but they also drive me insane;

'Rocked up'
'On point'
'On fleek'
'Me thinks'
and the use of 'I feel like..' instead of saying 'I think' - An American trend that is slowly seeping into the UK!

Whatever happened to the good & proper English language?!

Slowtrain2dawn · 19/07/2017 00:19

Poorly, no you're ILL.
Worse if applied to body part, e.g. Poorly tummy. Just say the shits/ d and v.

user1498240695 · 19/07/2017 00:24

Agreed Just. My friend works in a bar and is often asked "can I get a wine/lager"? I hate "I turned around/she turned around and said"
Or worse still beginning a sentence with obviously or basically Angry

Gideonsangel123 · 19/07/2017 00:38

Roasties, kiddies, scrummy, luncheon.

Gingernaut · 19/07/2017 00:42

Hun.

There's a DIY SOS build going on here in the West Midlands, reported in the local press and picked up on Facebook.

Some of the people involved are posting comments under the article, including one who addresses everyone as hun x.

With her profile picture a daft, pouting selfie and her sense of self importance, the "hun x" is the final straw.

ethelfleda · 19/07/2017 01:43

Also can't believe you're ten pages in and no one else wants to punch people for calling their dinner 'cheeky'

I hate This!!!

thebigbluedustbin · 19/07/2017 05:07

Just thought of another -- 'intimate'.

steff13 · 19/07/2017 05:36

Succulent. Used as an adjective.

schokolade · 19/07/2017 06:06

Thank goodness I've never heard anyone call their dinner cheeky!! Mine are

Parent as a verb.
The phrase 'educate yourself'

Piss off.

Broken11Girl · 19/07/2017 06:27

Pop as in "pop in oven" "popping over" YES! I hate it. Unless you are referring to the sound, fuck off. What's wrong with 'put', 'come over' etc. So twee.

MrsGuyOfGisbo · 19/07/2017 06:58

Ceto · 19/07/2017 06:58

Cleanse. Somehow it sounds unctuous and self-righteous. Just use "clean", for goodness sake.

robinia · 19/07/2017 07:08

hun

angieloumc · 19/07/2017 07:16

'Pogged' as in feeling full after you've eaten, I'm sure it's not even a proper word. That's the worst of a very long list.

Spermysextowel · 19/07/2017 07:25

Gotten.
Co-worker.

Spikeyball · 19/07/2017 07:27

Buggy - don't know why, just hate it. Mine's a pushchair. Not fond of pram either.
Brew - as in 'fancy a brew'
Spelt - for anything other than the wheat.
Myself / yourself in place of me / you
They as an ambiguous singular pronoun
Front bottom it is not a fucking bottom. They are not the same!

YouOKHun · 19/07/2017 07:39

He/she is a Belgium

Gotten, unless there's a hyphenated prefix
Scrumptious/scrummy
Anything in baby speak

Gotanewusernamenow · 19/07/2017 08:23

The saying "Happy days". Eh??!!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 19/07/2017 08:40

It drives me mad when people say 'mute point' rather than 'moot point'.
I have a friend who can't cope with the word 'flange'.

bookworm14 · 19/07/2017 08:47
