To wonder why kids wear sunsuits in the swimming pool?

I know it's really none of my business but I don't get it. Do people think that sunsuits act as wetsuits? I'm fairly certain that it will be colder in a clammy uv sun suit than in a regular costume so wonder why at the pool last week about 1/3 of under 5's were wearing them? Albu to ask if your child wears a sunsuit to the local pool and if so why?

Because DS2 hates not wearing clothes and hates the feeling of water on his chest.

Thanks ScarletSienna for the answer to my question. I don't judge and no, the question doesn't affect my life Confused but it's something I've been wondering about and so I thought mumsnet might be a place where I could find the answer. I won'd make that mistake again, some of these replies are unnecessarily hostile!

Inside pool = because my dd had a skin condition, meant we could apply cream to protect her and it would stay on better with the suit and the more body covered in clothing also meant she would slip less sitting on side or being grabbed by teacher in swim lesson due to slippery cream.
Outside pool = because of sun protection, suncream was not good for dd's skin allergies so sunsuit was ideal but better for children in general I feel to give extra sun protection.
Some people may like their children more covered for dignity reasons, or some kids may be body concious?

Op, many people gave you answers.

AUsernameThatNooneHas · 17/07/2017 12:11

You are absolutely correct

It is none of your business

AUsernameThatNooneHas · 17/07/2017 12:15

You didn't ask a question. If you did it would've asked the question and left it at that.
I do sympathise though OP because a seemingly innocent statement or question to you can be deemed judgey by others.

On this topic, apologies for high jacking to the thread, i need a swimsuit for my daughter, she'll be using it in Cyprus in Oct and will be 14 months old, do i go wetsuit/UV suit? Which swim nappies are best? She hates those neoprene ones.

Kr1stina · 17/07/2017 12:53

For Cyprus in October I'd get a shorties wetsuit, although they are hard to get on toddlers. The sea will be warmer than an unheated pool.

BasketOfDeplorables · 17/07/2017 13:11

I imagine any 'hostile' replies were down to the tone of the OP 'Do people think that sunsuits act as wetsuits?' sounds like you think everyone is a bit thick. I doubt anyone thinks they act like wetsuits, as, since you're talking about under 5s, most parents are probably helping their children change out of their swim suits.

sequin2000 · 17/07/2017 13:47

Scarletsienna offered all the possible reasons which is why I named her. Don't have time to name everyone. Not meant to cause offense but I will know better next time [Confused]
