To wonder why kids wear sunsuits in the swimming pool?

I know it's really none of my business but I don't get it. Do people think that sunsuits act as wetsuits? I'm fairly certain that it will be colder in a clammy uv sun suit than in a regular costume so wonder why at the pool last week about 1/3 of under 5's were wearing them? Albu to ask if your child wears a sunsuit to the local pool and if so why?

Definitely less slippy. Though when my son does wear his insulated one a few people think that's a rash vest.
Also. My sons outer swimnappy matches his rash vests. He wears them and washes them together. Or else our thrice weekly vs. Biannual holidays would have a bad colour musmatch

NB he wears to shorts too! I don't let him swim with a shark top and his willy hanging out!

Because 'girls' swimsuits are godawful frilly, pink pieces of shit and the suits are so much better for movement and not looking like a disturbing cupcake. And don't get me started on why I have to buy 'boys' board shorts.

We just buy one suit too so make sure its suitable for both beach and pool can't believe this is a question tho

Practical. Top that zips on plus shorts. Easier to go to toilet.

DD1 did not want to wear a girly swimsuit, much prefers boy style underpants too, as girls ones don't have the character she wanted on them. Happy in a covered up sun suit...nothing frilly and exposing!
DD2 it is much easier to get her dressed in a suit esp with a nappy.

My teen wears something similar (long shorts plus rash vest) because she is modest. She objects in principle to wearing girls'/women's revealing swimming costumes

My other child wears a normal swimming costume but I might start buying her a sunsuit because it would be easier than trying to find a normal swimming costume which fits her. She is slim and the leg holes are usually so huge on her that all her bits would be on display. I imagine a baggy sunsuit doesn't have that sort of issue.

I know some boys who wear them because they don't like their chests uncovered.

For gripping on to a writhing eel like young child.

I think they are a little warmer. I certainly felt the cold more in a bikini with bare midriff than a standard cossie.

The DCs wear shortie wetsuits now. Warmer (particularly good for supervising rather than quality swimming) and slightly more buoyant while they learn basic swim technique.

Because I cannot stand girls swimming costumes. Frilly stupid lurid pink flowery things.
And the wet suit would make her far too warm in a heated indoor pool.
So I put her in a boys two piece rash suit. It has brightly coloured birds on which make us all happy, was very cheap (😜) and very practical (if she poos it's easy to whip off the bottom half, clean her up and get back in the pool).

I would dress her in just the bottoms but that feels a bit wrong? Dunno why?

How can a pool dictate speedos or trunks only. Is it a men only pool? Assume not in Uk.

More character for your suit. Whom wouldn't want a giant minion on their front

Because my son has a herniated belly button and eczema and I get fed up of people staring if he wears a normal costume. Don't judge! Sad

My 1 year old wears a uv long sleeved t shirt and shorts swim suit. It's the 3rd I've bought since she was born and I don't see the point of having one for outdoors and one for indoors when they only fit a few months. It's easier to change a nappy because I can take off just the shorts, rather than wrestle with a traditional costume. It's also easier to whip off so she's into her towel quicker so doesn't get too chilly. It does keep her feeling warmer in the water so she can stay in longer. Also easier to hold onto in the water.

DS says his UV top keeps him warmer in the pool.

So you only need 1 swimsuit as they grow quick obviously

It keeps them warmer in a cold pool.

My kids wear sunsuits or swimtops in indoor pools so we dont get arguments when we're at outdoor pools. They wear the same thing every time for swimming to reduce arguments.

Because I want my kids covered up and comfortable. Because I think my 10 month old dd would look a bit silly in an uncomfortable little costume. Because they are less slippery and won't get sore from being handled in the water.

My son wears one to cover his sisters pink warmer vest. Which is the thing that keeps him happy in the pool so she can play.

Because that's what I want to put on her, why do you care?
