To feel sad to move out of London

I've lived in London for my whole life and I love it here but unsurprisingly we can't afford to buy here. We've managed to save enough to buy a place in Sussex and we're moving in a few weeks. Me and my DH both work in London so we'll be commuting into London every day. I know I'm BU as we are so lucky to be buying our own place especially how difficult it is these days but I feel so sad to be moving out of London to the point I've been in tears. My parents and some family are still in London so I'm going to miss them so much that we can't just pop over to see them like we do now.

My DH is so happy and excited and I'm worried I'm dampening his happiness down because I feel so sad. He's not from London and doesn't have a lot of family near us.

Is it normal to feel this sad when moving away from home? I'm guessing it's not just moving from London that's making me feel so sad. Can anyone cheer me up who's been through the same and is now happy?

I can't cheer you up but I can put it into perspective.

I moved from my home in England to Australia two years ago...for economic reasons. We just couldn't get ahead...here we had job offers...we've flown financially since coming but I do miss England sometimes.

At least you're going "home" every day!

Pull yourself together and look on the bright side. Better to live in Sussex and own than rent forever in London with no security.
