I've got new neighbours. I really doubt they are my kind of people. They've got a glittery toilet seat.

What makes you hoik up your Irrational Judgy Pants?

These threads always start as light relief then before long, descend into pure negativity.

RoboticSealpup · 18/07/2017 20:31

That's sad Robotic those sort of parents, who look "shit", can't afford holidays and scrape fees for private school, to me, look like the sort of parents who really value education and are willing to sacrifice material things so that their kids can get a decent education.

And it's impossible to get a decent education in a state school, is it? Hmm How bloody awful is the UK education system is this is true? My DD is not in school yet so I don't actually know.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 18/07/2017 20:33

Of course you can get a decent education ! Relax Grin

Whoopwhoopwooo · 18/07/2017 20:42

Nina do you have any friends? That's one hell of a list.... why would you judge someone for having plastic windows, would have thought that's most if the UK at the moment. Poor you.

Hudson10 · 18/07/2017 20:44

I'm a girl:

  • I like pink (even though I used to hate it when I was younger!)
  • I now reallly reallly want a glittery loo seat
  • I like Disney films
  • eyelashes on cars make me smile when I see them, it's a bit of frivolous fun Smile
  • I like it when people post pictures of their baths and candles on FB, or indeed pictures of what they're having for dinner as I'm a nosey cah Grin (so clearly some people do care)

Bet half the people on the thread LOVE me lol

MikeUniformMike · 18/07/2017 20:48

It helps if the parents are involved or interested in their children education. Unfortunately, not all children have supportive parents and not all children go to good schools. Even now, there are children who go through the system without learning to read and write.

On a more positive note, we have a good education system in this country and most children benefit from it.

Whoopwhoopwooo · 18/07/2017 20:51

Hudson I agree, what's wrong with people.

ConstanceCraving · 18/07/2017 20:54

Eyelashes on cars are stupid. Whenever I see them I just think the driver is an airhead.

Assumptions there, it could be a brick shit house built rugby player who wanted to put them on for the laugh for all you know Grin
As not everything has to be so serious in life.

ConstanceCraving · 18/07/2017 21:01

Funnily enough Hudson the drivers are always female hairdresser types Grin never seen a bloke driving around with daft lashes on his car.

Tailgaters - I actually want to kill them.

Whoopwhoopwooo · 18/07/2017 22:24

RoboticSealpup
People who scrape money together for their children's private school fees but walk around looking like a sack of shit potatoes in crappy old clothes and never go anywhere on holiday because they can't afford it. They're like the modern day equivalent of Mrs Darcy, completely obsessed with their children's social mobility to the exclusion of their own quality of life. It's insane.

Maybe they get their priority right? Education has opened many doors for me, and I probably looked like a sack shit of potatoes to you if you had seen me as a child but now I have a good career.

RoboticSealpup · 19/07/2017 06:11

There are many people who went private who don't have a good career though. I wonder if some of their patients sacrificed holidays, days out, good clothes, good food and savings in the bank for nothing.

paddypants13 · 19/07/2017 08:34

@nina2b my two wear trainers, they're properly fitted and everything. The reason I buy them is because they cost the same as other shoes but are incredibly hard wearing and I need them to last until they're out grown.

ppeatfruit · 19/07/2017 09:04

I judge people who put little babies in ANY solid shoes before they can walk (except pram shoes when it's cold.)

I also judge those who put white plastic windows on nice OLD houses, they don't look right.

The80sweregreat · 19/07/2017 10:17

We kept my sil's facebook page open. She died 2 years ago.
Would seem weird not having her on there.
Im no fan of some fb meme things about people that have died, but some people like to put a message up for on her birthday and so on.
I dont know if we'll take it down one day.

Maybe that helps their quality of life, knowing that they have done their best for their children. I don't send my children to a private school but I go out without just about everything to make sure that they have all the support that they need for their education and can do whatever extra-curricular activities that they benefit from. I'd rather do that than buy ridiculously overpriced clothes and have them just sitting in front of the TV night after night.

ppeatfruit · 19/07/2017 13:09

Robotic it's not Mrs Darcey in P&P who worried about her familys' social mobility, , it was Mrs Bennett Grin

ppeatfruit · 19/07/2017 13:10

There wasn't a Mrs Darcey till Lizzie married Mr. D. his mother was dead.

Emmageddon · 19/07/2017 13:43

As a result of this thread, my toilet seat is now a-glitter and my car has eyelashes.
