To dread seeing threads with over 50 posts.......

....as I know that due to my shite connection speed it will take about 5 years to load them.... thus deeming anything I have to say hopelessly out of date?

OP posts:
coppertop · 24/03/2007 22:33

I know what you mean. Until fairly recently I couldn't even open threads with more than about 100 posts on because of a similar problem. The number of juicy MN threads I missed out on......

princesscc · 24/03/2007 22:33

I feel your pain! I can't be arsed to get involved with anything over about 10 posts!

littleEasterlapin · 24/03/2007 22:33

Maybe we should ask Tech for some sort of "summary" button

trillium · 24/03/2007 22:39

LL, you abandoned me in a verruca infested hot tub.... and the service is absolutely appaling

Get broadband

trillium · 24/03/2007 22:40

Summary button would be brilliant.

Someone could go through the posts in real time and pick out the best/relevant bits

OP posts:
ucm · 24/03/2007 22:41

and if you have got it, pay to upgrade the speed, before rent, food etc.

YOU CANNOT miss out on MN

PeachesMcLean · 24/03/2007 22:44

Well we've got broadband but I rarely bother with threads with lots of posts. I doubt I'll have anything to contribute that hasn't already been said and it takes so long to read and really get the hang of where people are coming from. Too much stuff!

ucm · 24/03/2007 22:45

Actually PM I agree. I sometimes read the first few then the last, get the totally wrong gist of it and make some innapropriate comment

nikkie · 24/03/2007 22:48

I have just got BB and still don't get into the long ones, just 'cos it takes ages scrolling and reading.

trillium · 24/03/2007 22:49

UCM is that you?

Gawd I'm sorry. It's just a reflex response now.

Can't get Broadband. Can't get TV. Live in the middle of nowhere.

Internet connection speed is at best 16.8kbp.

Resigned myself to cross posting/wrong century posting

Spidermama · 24/03/2007 22:49

Get broadband girls. You have no idea what you're missing.

coppertop · 24/03/2007 23:23

I got broadband a few months ago. I thought it would be great to be able to read all the long threads but in fact have ended up doing what Peaches describes. If they're too long I can't be bothered to read or post on them anyway.

Goodness me. Your Internet must be really slow. It took 15 years to upload that comment.
