To think 12 weeks in prison for a vile racist death threat isn't enough

Seems pretty light to me, he offered money for someone to run over the fab Gina miller who fought for democracy.

*"£5,000 for the first person to 'accidentally' run over this bloody troublesome first generation immigrant."

Describing Ms Miller as a "boat jumper", he added: "If this is what we should expect from immigrants, send them back to their stinking jungles."*

YANBU.
A year maybe.
12 weeks is far far too little.

Ipigglemustdie · 14/07/2017 07:21

12 weeks for saying/typing words seems about right. You can get less for actually assaulting someone. Yabvvvu to describe that twat as fab though.

Sirzy · 14/07/2017 07:22

I think it is about right. Sends a message to all those who make such threats from the "safety" of their computer.

YellowLawn · 14/07/2017 07:23

yanbu
500£ fine?
seems a very lenient sentence for such a vile crime.

I thank gina miller for not taking any shit.

DopeyDazy · 14/07/2017 07:26

She fought against democracy as Brexit won 52 to 48 .

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 14/07/2017 07:28

fought for democracy Confused. Yeah right. She tried to stop democracy.

Regarding the sentence I think it's about right.

AtHomeDadGlos · 14/07/2017 07:31

Well, she didn't fight against democracy though. She fought for the right of Parliament (our democratically elected body) to scrutinise the Brexit process and for the while thing to be held to account. Which is democracy.

But go ahead and spit out that Daily Heil nonsense again.

ethelfleda · 14/07/2017 07:33

YANBU
And after hearing Diane Abbot listing all of the vile, racist and misogynistic comments she has received from complete strangers in social media I wish more sentences were handed out. People turn utterly evil on the internet - it can be a horrible place!

ethelfleda · 14/07/2017 07:34

Athomedad I completely agree with this.

Birdsgottaf1y · 14/07/2017 07:41

"" to describe that twat as fab though.""

Genuine question, why is she a twat?

I agree with AtHomeDadGlos.

Flofferton · 14/07/2017 07:42

Well, she didn't fight against democracy though. She fought for the right of Parliament (our democratically elected body) to scrutinise the Brexit process and for the while thing to be held to account. Which is democracy.

Don't dazzle the poor loves with the actual facts. They don't welcome the truth.

YellowLawn · 14/07/2017 07:43

thanks athome for pointing out so acurately what gina miller actually did.
I have great admiration for her.

Saiman · 14/07/2017 07:45

In comparison for other crimes it sounds about right.

You can assult people and not get time at all.

StillDrivingMeBonkers · 14/07/2017 07:51

Anyone bright enough to look up the sentencing guidelines for the conviction before whipping themselves into a frenzy about non comparative crimes?

TheNaze73 · 14/07/2017 07:53

Despite being a staunch remainer, I think her campaign did far more harm than good.

There is no excuse however, for what that keyboard warrior did & I think YANBU, it seems like a woeful undersentance to me.

acatcalledjohn · 14/07/2017 08:01

@ThroughThickAndThin01 fought for democracy . Yeah right. She tried to stop democracy.

She didn't try to stop democracy. She made sure that the final decision re Brexit was put through parliament, as our SOVEREIGN LAW dictates. (Because a referendum is lawfully NOT binding)

May was about to ignore this sovereign law, which would be undemocratic.

Pigface1 · 14/07/2017 08:25

Actually it seems like a pretty fair sentence to me. It's three months in actual prison for typing some words - I think it sends a pretty strong message! 12 months would be ridiculous when people don't get that for assault/theft.

ShatnersWig · 14/07/2017 08:34

I think it's about right. I am genuinely awaiting a glut of other cases and sentences for everyone who has gone onto the Great Ormond Street Hospital FB page or on the Charlie's Army FB page making violent threats towards the GOSH staff, their barrister, Charlie Gard's guardian and her barrister.

JumpyCastle · 14/07/2017 09:11

Thanks for adding some honestly AtHomeDadGlos !

ChasedByBees · 14/07/2017 09:18

Totally agree with AtHomeDadGlos. Seriously those of you claiming she's trying to stop democracy really need to school themselves in the democratic process and how our government works.

thebear1 · 14/07/2017 09:20

I think it's about right, sadly others get a lot less for doing far worse.

Figaro2017 · 14/07/2017 09:22

It's three months in actual prison

He will serve 6 weeks in jail and 6 on licence.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 14/07/2017 09:50

I think it's about right.
I'm not a fan of GM, but the abuse she had/still gets is disgusting & he is a nasty, bigoted twat.

I would like to see more of those keyboard warriors punished tbh - the stuff Diane Abbott gets daily is horrific & she's had it for years now - I'm not a fan of DA either, but she is one hell of a strong person to keep on going as she has.
