Continuation of the discussion.

It looks highly unlikely that there will be a verdict today as GOSH have not yet been able to put their case across. The Gard family had their position heard this morning and currently an expert witness from the US is being questioned via video link.

Taken from Ca ( I'd be really careful with posts like this. After what the judge said about threats. I wouldn't be very surprised if this group suddenly finds itself being scrutinised.
Maybe it's time to stick to well wishing and facts.)

(There trying to kill him with Morphine so it wont look as bad. X)

Fantastictwistsand · 13/07/2017 18:55

I had to say something on there. It's making me so angry.

SocksBoatsAndQats · 13/07/2017 18:56

I don't know to be honest. I just want the parents to have peace with whatever happens, this must be horrendous for them. They literally couldn't have done more, no one could argue that.

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 18:56

Wow a very level headed post from Ca ( Don't be so bloody ignorant!! Do you realise how many lives they have saved? How many parents still have their children because of them?

You are doing actual damage. They are losing donations. This means that their patients, children suffering from all sorts of horrible conditions are going to have a lower standard of care. Including Charlie!

I beg you to open your eyes and see what you are doing.)

HouseOfMouse · 13/07/2017 18:56

It's so sad. From what the witness said in court today, it sounds like the parents have latched onto the "good" stuff (e.g. the 10%) and ignored all the bad stuff he said (e.g. re the therapy being completed untested, the brain damage etc.).

It really didn't go well for them today, and it's clear that the witness doesn't have much of an idea of Charlie's true condition and the extent of his deterioration.

On that basis, what thelonelyhamster says (above) makes complete sense.

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 13/07/2017 18:57

Has anyone here changed their opinion as a result of today's information?
Is anyone convinced by the new evidence?

I felt a flicker of hope in the early stages but once the cross-examination started, no. It doesn't sound like anything has changed since the last hearing.

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 18:59

Whoever was brave enough to post that post on Ca, they wouldnt have let that on there a few days ago.

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 19:00

Fantastictwistsand, was that you then? lol

JonSnowsWhore · 13/07/2017 19:00

I'm thinking maybe they caused his condition and don't want to transfer him knowing someone will find out they did something wrong.. it's just plain cruel. No one would stop me from taking my child out of a hospital. Why do they even have any say?? They have tried to sentence him to die on a certain day at a certain time like a dog. Wtf is this world coming to??

Bloody hell it gets worse!! Hmm

Fantastictwistsand · 13/07/2017 19:00

Mucky that was my post (I'm not fussed about being outed) I joined the group to read. I doubt it will last long, I've already had a rude private message.

rabbitnothare · 13/07/2017 19:01

Screenshot the message and post on the page, bullies they are.

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 19:03

Fantastictwistsand, oh my goodness thats awful, would you like to share the message with us? lol

MinesaBottle · 13/07/2017 19:04

It probably won't last as long there as the idiotic message suggesting that if he's in pain he should be given Calpol rather than morphine Hmm

There does seem to be a lot of arse-covering going on there at the moment.

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 19:04

rabbitnothare, what a good idea.

Incitatis · 13/07/2017 19:04

I really don't think the parents have thought this thing through. Do they really want their months and years to be spent nursing an extremely sick child whos progress is measured in terms of a slightly twitching finger? What do they think the reality is going to be? At the moment, they have a team of people caring for their son. If he did manage to make it home, what then? Their lives will be impossibly miserable, no jobs, money, relationship, time, rest, respite, the list goes on.

Nursing an extremely fragile person 24/7 is definitely not for the feinthearted

Sostenueto · 13/07/2017 19:05

Funny daily mail readers lol!Grin

Lonelymummyof1 · 13/07/2017 19:07

GabsAlot · 13/07/2017 19:07

ive got such a heavy head aftr today still feel desprately sad for charlie-

ladasha · 13/07/2017 19:08

I passed by the court today as the hearing was in full flow. Have to say, the showing from Charlie's "Army" was pretty poor. Being generous, there was about 15-20 of them. About the same in photographers/press making it look slightly busy. Not as powerful as their FB page suggests. Speaks volumes really as to how the majority of people is thinking about this case.

They were wearing white tshirts with felt tipped messages on holding blue balloons. Two were struggling to hang up a banner. They had an approx 5 year old girl who looked baffled and was being encouraged to shyly say into a mic "release Charlie". Release him? Oh yeah, sure he'll flourish being released out of hospital care.

One was sat there holding up a banner "saying beep for Charlie Gard". Nobody was beeping. In comparison to the Marine A case, where cars, taxis, buses and trucks were going absolutely mental beeping without any encouragement.

I see lots of protests outside there, and this was honestly a poor showing for such a hyped up case. It was just sad to be honest. Some clueless fanatics feeding the family delusional hopes. The rest who talk big on FB couldn't even care enough to show up. They aren't a force to be reckoned with and reassured me that the right thing will come out of this.

GabsAlot · 13/07/2017 19:09

hey @lonelumummyof1 nice to see you hows dd doing?

Summerswallow · 13/07/2017 19:09

Actually the Daily Mail readers have been pretty supportive of the idea that this little boy should not suffer or live in pain or live with a very poor quality of life, if you read the comments (not sure why I'm defending them just stating what I see). The comments are not 'pro-life' at all costs (in the Vatican or Trump or right wing sense) at all.

Sostenueto · 13/07/2017 19:10

Well they would not be caring for Charlie 24/7 carers/nurses would be, but horror of horrors they might be NHS nurses. No they could never take him home, they could not provide the proper nursing g care.

11122aa · 13/07/2017 19:10

From a prominent 'pro life' campaigner in the USA.

DorotheaBeale · 13/07/2017 19:11

Has anyone here changed their opinion as a result of today's information?
Is anyone convinced by the new evidence?

No. What the US doctor seemed to be saying was that even if the treatment worked, the best possible outcome was likely to be only a very small improvement in Charlie's condition. It doesn't seem as if it would be enough to give him any quality of life, and it's all very speculative anyway.
