Continuation of the discussion.

It looks highly unlikely that there will be a verdict today as GOSH have not yet been able to put their case across. The Gard family had their position heard this morning and currently an expert witness from the US is being questioned via video link.

I know there isn't much to laugh over but that picture is fantastic Grin

rabbitnothare · 13/07/2017 18:39

Me too straight, I would have let them go but the medics obviously feel very strongly that it's not fair on him I suppose.

Shall we crowdfund for Italian man?

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 18:40

DailyMailReadersAreThick, lol

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 18:40

rabbitnothare · 13/07/2017 18:43

Happy to let you use my bank account; makes it easier for you?

GabsAlot · 13/07/2017 18:43

i dont undrstand law but i thought u wnt to court because you couldnt agree beforehan othrwise what wa th point of today

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 13/07/2017 18:43

straight in the first judgement the judge talked about setting quantitative parameters for knowing when to stop treatment if he decided to allow it IIRC. Presumably the same could happen if it was the case this time.

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 18:43

rabbitnothare, lmao

Mulberry72 · 13/07/2017 18:44

Daily That did make me chuckle!

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 18:44

I wonder with everything thats gone on, if Mumsnet Hq could perhaps set up a fundraising page for Gosh?

thelonelyhamster · 13/07/2017 18:44

Would the meeting be between the doctors involved (including the ones that were phoning/video calling from other countries) to try and get some kind of agreement/understanding on what Charlies condition actually is.

So then they can go back to court and say 'Here is the condition Charlie is in. Here is what the various Drs from GOSH/USA/Italy think may result from treatment, based on xxx evidence'

Even if the Doctors don't all agree on giving the treatment, the judge will still have to decide, but at least all the Drs involved would be speaking from the same 'starting point' regarding Charlies actual health.

This was linked on CA, is it any wonder that those without much between the ears are getting things wrong?!?!

The headline and top part are completely innacurate, he Dr isn't definitely coming to London and he never said it was 50/50 he'd get better😡😡😡

Hamster yes I think that has to be it.

Ollivander84 · 13/07/2017 18:47

Morphine is given to repress respiration so that he sufficates faster when the breathing machine is turned off--But about Mouth to mouth rescue the court had daid nothing.

I can't eye roll any more. I was on oramorph, and working and walking and talking. It's not a death sentence, what is causing his death is his medical condition Sad
GOSH are trying to keep him as comfortable as possible

stitchglitched · 13/07/2017 18:47

I wonder if Charlie's parents are starting to accept his prognosis in light of what their expert said? Maybe the meeting is to give them some say over how 'the end' is managed. Whatever happens I really wish CA would STFU now, how could the parents even start to accept reality when they are being told that 'good parents keep fighting' and all the other nonsense. I also think their advisors have too much of an agenda to let them have a change of heart.

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 18:49

Charlies army still at it, they have a post up saying not Gosh but great ormond street hell

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 18:50

They just cant help themselves

That made me laugh and Lord knows this is such a painful time for all those involved.

DarthMaiden · 13/07/2017 18:51

So it seems to me as followers.

The case went to court because of new evidence.

In his testimony the US doctor, after you look past all the figures he quoted, stated that he is not clinically able to assess the level of Charlie's brain damage or pain levels and the only way to know if the treatment will work is to try it.

I'm unclear how this is in any way "new" evidence?

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 13/07/2017 18:52

'Whatever happens I really wish CA would STFU now, how could the parents even start to accept reality when they are being told that 'good parents keep fighting' and all the other nonsense. I also think their advisors have too much of an agenda to let them have a change of heart.'

Yes. They need kind, compassionate people around them around who will support them, but they seem to have a mixture of oddballs and cynical types who are working to further an agenda. I feel so sorry for them, they look absolutely bereft.

GinSoakedTwitchyPony · 13/07/2017 18:52

Has anyone here changed their opinion as a result of today's information?
Is anyone convinced by the new evidence?

Ceto · 13/07/2017 18:52

It would be helpful if all the medics could get on the same page about things like head growth, brain damage, whether he is or may be in pain, and perhaps what the very best case scenario would be if the treatment worked.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 13/07/2017 18:53

I think it is *lonely. I'm not sure why this couldn't have been done already.

muckypup73 · 13/07/2017 18:54

GinSoakedTwitchyPony, I am not convinced becuase the Doctor that gave evidence I am sure is the one that was not told how bad charlie was.

GinSoakedTwitchyPony · 13/07/2017 18:54

I'm unclear as well Darth which is why I've posted to ask if anyone has gained any clarity from it.
