Next are a bit precious about their sale, aren't they?

I've received an invitation for the Next sale for the first time.

I've been meaning to buy a few holiday clothes so I clicked the link and was faced with The Rules.

Including that I must not let anyone else use my slot, and if I don't add an item to my basket within 20 minutes I'll be booted out. Oh, and if I don't buy anything I'll be put on the naughty list and wont be invited again. GrinHmm

I've received an email copy of The Rules to internalise before the big event.

And I have to schlepp to the store to collect!

My daughter works for next once a year in store prepping their sale swing tags. She says the clothing is shite but she's happy to reduce it in price. I agree about the quality, it's really gone downhill.

I used to love the Next sale but can't be bothered anymore. The last few years they seem to pull out loads of old rubbish from last years sale. Much of their recent stuff isn't great and the quality and sizing has deteriorated. I have old Next work trousers in Size 10 Reg that fit perfectly and this year the same style in a size 8 Reg is far too big and too long in the leg. I haven't shrunkConfused

RedBlu · 13/07/2017 22:30

I always get a "VIP" slot but have noticed in the last few years their stuff has gone a bit crap.

The one thing I wanted this year sold out before my slot, luckily though I know people who work at Next so they have saved some in store for me.

I did also spot a lamp I wanted sold out, yet is still in stock and available on the normal site for full price - how the hell does that work!

ginghamstarfish · 14/07/2017 11:12

I've rarely shopped at Next, but I've heard about these 'rules' which are no doubt to convey an air of 'exclusivity' to what is in fact a bog standard sale of unpopular/unsold cheap clothing.

Velvian · 14/07/2017 11:18

The sale is rubbish, they put any old crap that's been hanging about for years. I buy a lot of clothes from next, particularly for the dcs, because i find the sizing consistent & it washes really well. I wish they would have some 25% days instead of their ridiculous sales.

AtomHeart · 22/07/2017 20:10

Just received a load of stuff. Most of it in the wrong size. I also got a rug in the wrong colour. Such a pain!

ForalltheSaints · 22/07/2017 20:29

One of the reasons why I would like shops to be shut for just one Boxing Day is to upset Next. Thanks for giving more ammunition to my wish.

MyPatronusIsAUnicorn · 22/07/2017 21:06

Well I got the bulk of my order today. Fairly chuffed. Couple of things need to go back but DS is chuffed with his £16 Converse and I've got a few bits for our holiday. They are also the only shop I know that sell pyjamas in long length which I need.

ethelfleda · 22/07/2017 21:10

The next sale is right up there with people queuing for miles to get the latest iPhone on the list of things that I really don't understand. It's like that crazy black Friday bollocks in USA...!!

squoosh · 22/07/2017 21:12

Bless Next and their sweet little delusions of grandeur.

3% of their clothes are wearable, the rest aren't even fit to line my dog's basket.

squoosh · 22/07/2017 21:14

Queuing up overnight to nab an iphone is really silly but at least it's an iphone. Imagine queuing overnight to buy some polyester tops with embellished crap on it?

QueenoftheAndals · 22/07/2017 21:15

Next clothes are so boring though! Not sure I'd bother buying anything even if it was on sale.

RandomDent · 22/07/2017 21:18

It really is a triumph of marketing over quality.

AnneGrommit · 22/07/2017 21:23

Also very provincial. I don't remember anyone in London giving a shite about the next jumble sale. It's the bumpkins who go wild for it.

GlitterGlue · 22/07/2017 21:25

I often used buy childrenswear in the sale. For small children it was decent quality and good value. Quality nowhere near as good these days. I haven't bothered for a few years. In fact I can't remember the last time I bought any clothing in Next?

And let's not discuss the horror that is a next sale shop.

They'll be grabbing their pitchforks and coming after you for that comment!

I can't be bothered queuing up for the sale, but went into Next on Monday (sale started Saturday) and got lots of really nice things for baby DD, really well reduced. Didn't see much for DS (almost 3) or myself though.

ihatetosay · 22/07/2017 21:43

havent shopped in Next for well over ten years
