Do you go along once they are older? Don't want to embarrass the poor fellow.

Noooooooo. No one I know goes. I would like to but it has never even been suggested by either kids or school

Looneytune253 · 12/07/2017 10:29

No they don't allow parents at ours.

ClashCityRocker · 12/07/2017 10:29

At my old school not everyone took part and it was very much a house competition - so in each event there would only be two people per year competing from your 'house' which was two forms a year. Everyone else just watched.

No parents though.

seventhgonickname · 12/07/2017 10:29

No, we're not allowed, all chances of embarrassing child twarted!

seventhgonickname · 12/07/2017 10:30

Thwart!

AuntieStella · 12/07/2017 10:30

Yes.

Parents are welcome, but not that many turn up.

You may well be (mainly) ignored, and it's important not to be embarrassing. But if you bring sweeties and crisps, you'll be tolerated.

steppemum · 12/07/2017 10:36

no.

both ds and dds school invite parent sot come and picnic on the field and watch sports day.
very few parent scome because our dc come home and threaten us with death if we so much as look in the direction of the school on sports day.

seems a shame really, but I currently have 3 kids in 3 schools, so quite happy to give it a miss.

BattleaxeGalactica · 12/07/2017 10:40

Lord, no. Even the DC didn't go if they could sneak out undetected get away with it.

Apparently it was all about the jocks and everyone else was left filling bench space.

RainbowPastel · 12/07/2017 11:00

Not allowed at our school.

Andrewofgg · 12/07/2017 11:26

Stay away. Nobody wants you. Certainly not your DC.

LockedOutOfMN · 12/07/2017 11:31

No parents at sports' day, we don't even invite them at our school.

Baalam · 12/07/2017 11:32

not invited to ours and I am delighted not to have to go

EndoplasmicReticulum · 12/07/2017 11:33

Parents specifically told not to attend at ours.

Allthebestnamesareused · 12/07/2017 11:47

No parents at ours either and its quite a sporty school! We can go to matches though!

leccybill · 12/07/2017 11:50

Ours is at the local stadium and some Y7 parents come. There's been no ridicule so far.

Oblomov17 · 12/07/2017 12:41

Parents aren't invited. Thank God. Done all that at primary.

cece · 12/07/2017 12:57

Parents are invited.
No one goes due to the social death your child will experience if you turn up to watch.

LovelyBath77 · 12/07/2017 22:33

Haha! It is DS first year at secondary, so had no idea whether to go or not, school email said we were welcome. I turned up and was nearly the only parent there! Poor DS. Anyway had quick chat with him and stayed a few mins and sloped off, (trying to be as un-embarrassing as possible)
