Yes, I enjoyed that comment Rabbit. One of them should email GOSH and let them know.

Sirzy · 12/07/2017 12:01

Everyone is an expert! I am sure nurologists are clueless on such things Hmm

SumThucker · 12/07/2017 12:05

"If Charlie was a Muslim baby they wouldn't of risked doing this for fear of being branded racist"

Comment on CA, I shit you not. It needs moderating better, that's for sure.

They should stay with Charlie all the time now and not attend court, because they won't get the time back.

smilingmind · 12/07/2017 12:06

Puzzled I read the post at 00.08 and thought saying it was posted by a 'neuroscientist* was cynicism.
I totally agree that no medical professional, or even any professional person, would make a report using such terminology.

Sluttybartfast · 12/07/2017 12:06

the Queen is a slag

Grin it probably shouldn't have, but that is the first comment from CA that has actually made me laugh out loud.

This whole thing does make me feel that we need to talk more about end of life issues. It's my experience that people who have seen what 'life at any cost, never give up hope' really means are vehemently against it, especially for themselves. I certainly am. I watched a family member wither into a creature of skin and bone animated only by rage and pain. While she could still speak she begged us to end her life. It's truly obscene how long a heart can remain beating for, in the absence of everything else that creates life.

There's only one thing anyone can give Charlie now, and that's the best death possible.

Lonelymummy I'm thinking of you and your DD Flowers

MommaGee · 12/07/2017 12:07

Apparently Charlie's mom told the court his head had grown 2 cm in a week . if that doesn't say something about the extent of the oedema...

Quartz2208 · 12/07/2017 12:07

Thinking about feeling pain, surely he is either in pain or he is not because he cant feel pain because the parts of his brain which recognise pain no longer works. Either way would it not point to the GOSH doctors being right?

nina2b · 12/07/2017 12:08

I like this comment, patiently trying to tell top class neurologists how to measure the head circumference.

The patience shines through. Let Joe Public conduct brain surgery from now in.Grin

MommaGee · 12/07/2017 12:09

I do hope the not very visible family are spending time with Charlie whilst hours parents are in court. I know the nurses are good but it seems sad for hon to spend this last time so often alone

Rabbitnothare · 12/07/2017 12:09

Sluttybartfast it made me laugh too. Some humour in a dark situation.

smilingmind · 12/07/2017 12:10

A post by the ' neuroscientist' who posted on CA page

Like Charlie, I am living with mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome (MDDS). My form is milder than Charlie's and children with MDDS but I struggle with many symptoms. My life is worth living AS IS Charlie's life and all the lives of people with mitochondrial diseases. I have become a mother and neuroscientist. I know that even with brain damage Charlie has a very good chance of recovering brain function especially with treatment. Babies and children have incredible ability for plasticity and brain/neuron growth, even kids with severe mito disease like Charlie. Ask any neuroscientist. The brain is resilient especially at very young ages. Charlie and all of us with mito have a great ability to fight for life. We deserve to live and experience what life has to offer even if life is very challenging. I have lived the last 10 years unable to eat normally due to MDDS and I carry my intravenous food (TPN) with me. I would always choose life even in the midst of these challenges and I am sure Charlie would as well.

Rhodiolia · 12/07/2017 12:10

I've reported the FB page to the Met police via their online mail on their webpage. I sent GOSH a message of support last week. Not sure what else can be done to rein in this circus?

NatashaGurdin · 12/07/2017 12:10

Hmm, not sure how it works in Italy but there is an Italian member of CA who seems to think that the royal family and parliament can interfere with the court case now, the poster wants them to all tweet and FB the Queen and May etc today.

They really have no idea about the case at all and certainly have lost sight of the poor baby in the middle of it.

Like you said above RMC123, people like these caused the brexit vote even though they had no real idea what they were voting about.

TartanDMs · 12/07/2017 12:11

shatner

S: I have faith that karma will get this bitch, one day.
H: Karma does exist and it will come round and hit her
S: Hopefully with a hammer...
H: Haha

The "S" in this conversation works for the NHS. I have written a letter of complaint to the trust she works for with screenshots of these statements. It is a disgrace.

OhUnpretentiousSpud · 12/07/2017 12:13

I just sent this to GOSH via Facebook

Hi GOSH. I'm sure you're being bombarded with messages, probably many of them upsetting at this time. I'd just like to let you know that I fully support everything you do, and I feel you are handling the current Charlie Gard case with professionalism and dignity, which sadly cannot always be said for many commentators on your page and other pages right now. I have the utmost sympathy for all your staff who I'm sure are finding this situation very upsetting on a personal level too. You do not deserve to receive nasty and threatening comments, ever. I am about to set up a small monthly donation for you, keep doing your amazing work with pride. Love from F x

They replied:

Hello Fiona. Thank you for taking the time to get in touch and for sending such a thoughtful message of support. Your words and generosity are hugely appreciated by everyone here. It's a terrible time for Charlie's family and everyone touched by his situation, but we are doing everything we can to support them. We will make sure to pass your message on to our hospital team - it makes a real difference to their day to hear that their work is valued. Thanks again, and best wishes.

I'm sure they do really value any support right now. Flowers

ChattyLion · 12/07/2017 12:16

Wornoutbear · 12/07/2017 12:17

So this what CA believe the "facts" are unlike "false information of GOSH FAQ"

It's a shame to see even good and sensitive newspaper articles regurgitating the "10% chance of helping" figure - my sense is they are too daunted to entangle themselves in the science. However doubt the judge can be snowed by that.
