It's been raining for weeks.
10 bloody degrees again today, had to put my heating on the morning.
I can't get my washing dry everything is sodden outside.

Oh for some sun and even 20 degrees would be lovely.

That said, this heat is not nice. The UK is not geared up for nice weather. I used to live on the equator and we would have free flowing lime juice, access to a pool (lived in condo), good summer clothes and aircon.

Heat in the UK is really unpleasant.

ClaireSunflower · 11/07/2017 11:56

I wish I could swap with you! I'm a northerner (and quite fond of the rain!) living in London with a 6 week old baby who seems to hate the heat and is very grumpy and screamy on the hot days we've been having here

DavetheCat2001 · 11/07/2017 11:56

Just started raining here in SE London. I'm grateful that it's cooled down as the humidity here has been horrible.

whyhastherumgone · 11/07/2017 11:57

YANBU. I always thought I liked summer. This kind of summer? Nope. I feel permanently sweaty, our flat is boiling even with fans on so not sleeping well which just makes me incredibly grumpy. And I can never seem to wear the right thing.
It's also making it more difficult to exercise - I dislike running in humidity - so I feel quite gross.
Basically, I'm a little ray of sunshine ;)

HellonHeels · 11/07/2017 11:58

London summer has been bloody awful. Hot is OK (not great when you're working) but the humidity and high temperatures at night are awful. I haven't slept well for weeks. Keeps trying to rain here but hasn't happened yet.

CiderwithBuda · 11/07/2017 11:58

Amazing how different it is. I'm south west and loving that we have rain today as the garden badly needs it. (Saves me feeling guilty that i didn't water yesterday as per dh's request - he's away this week).

I hate London in the heat so glad I'm not having to work there any more.

vikingprincess81 · 11/07/2017 12:00

I'm much further north than OP I reckon, but still in Scotland - it's beautiful here and has been for days.
my standards may be much lower though

Eolian · 11/07/2017 12:00

I'm in Cumbria. Rainy and a bit chilly. I have a big jumper on in the house. I don't want heat, but a reliable 24 or 25° would be nice.

Mulledwine1 · 11/07/2017 12:02

I'm in the south and it has rained and cooled down today. So happy! Maybe I'll be able to sleep properly now.

As for the grass being dead. It goes a bit yellow when it's dry. When it rains, it goes back to green. It's not dead.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 11/07/2017 12:04

West Yorkshire. We had rain all last week when I was in annual leave, not bad at the weekend, actual sun on Sunday but I was in bed because of night shifts. Shitty weather yesterday and today when I'm off. No doubt it'll be glorious next 3 days and shit at the weekend.
Every single day we've had the sun this year I've been stuck in the oven that is my work. Rest of the time the weather has been shite. Sick to death of it.

HellonHeels · 11/07/2017 12:04

I'd like daytime temperature around 22; low humidity, sunny, gentle breeze, overnight rain, night temperature around 10.

WhenTheDragonsCame · 11/07/2017 12:05

Whyhastherumgone I read on here that if you place the fan pointing out of an open window it cools the room much better. Something about pulling the hot air out. If you have it pointing into the room it just circulates the hot air.

Badbadbunny · 11/07/2017 12:08

Sick of the cold wet weather here in North West England. Can't wait until next week when we're off to the Med for a couple of weeks of some decent weather.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 11/07/2017 12:08

First decent day of rain here for a while in midlands

Monstermuncher · 11/07/2017 12:11

I feel your pain OP. I'm in Glasgow and trying to get through the summer holidays with two kids when the weather is bad is like some sort of endurance test

Acatalepsy · 11/07/2017 12:11

YANBU

I am South East, and we had a couple of very hot days, but sunny the rest of the weeks. Too cold for paddling pool and still needed my duvet at night, but just seeing blue sky feels really good. So much energy and happiness than when it's so grey outside. It does get a bit stuffy in the tube to be fair, but nothing unbearable.
It has started to rain this morning, it's grim, so you have all my sympathy!

OrangeFluff · 11/07/2017 12:12

I think the weather needs to spread itself across the country much more evenly!

It's been the dryest spring and summer so far that I can remember! I'm in the West Midlands, and for the first time in weeks we've had a bit of rain today, but it was just a drizzle, I'm hoping for more. There are a lot of yellow lawns about, and I've had to water my garden almost everyday as my plants keep wilting.

I would like rain over night to keep things lush and green, and then lovely sunny days with a slight breeze- and absolutely no humidity! Not too much to ask surely Grin

(Enjoying us Brits living up to our stereotype of complaining about the weather)

Madonna9 · 11/07/2017 12:13

This unpredictable seasonal weather makes me want to move to Spain where you always know what you're going to get in terms of weather... Would make planning events like weddings a lot easier too :-)

mowglik · 11/07/2017 12:15

OP Thought you were going to complain about the heat and I was coming on to agree! I'm in London and the heat is unbearable - We've been sleeping without a duvet for weeks now, and the humidity is making me feel clammy and flustered.

Bring on autumn (my favourite season - fresh and breezy)

BarbarianMum · 11/07/2017 12:16

It's pretty much perfect here in S York for once. Generally warm and sunny with occasional hot days and occasional wet ones. I'm going with "best summer in ages" - you have my sympathy.

GooodMythicalMorning · 11/07/2017 12:16

It's been so hot here in glad it's been chucking it down today. Much happier me as I don't mind rain and much happier dog as he can go outside without overheating.

Waxlyrically · 11/07/2017 12:20

At last an advantage to living in the midlands - we've had a bit of both!

Acatalepsy · 11/07/2017 12:20

I would like rain over night to keep things lush and green, and then lovely sunny days with a slight breeze

hear hear! It can't be that difficult, can it! Grin
people on night shifts might disagree though

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 11/07/2017 12:23

You lucky cow.

PoppyTree · 11/07/2017 12:24

Where I am, (Central Midlands area,) it has been mostly sunny for months, apart from occasional outbursts. I would say March, April, May, June, and July (so far,) has been 80% sunny and dry.

So much so that our trees have been shedding leaves to survive, and the grass is crispy in parts due to being so dry. A couple of swamps a mile or so from us, (in the woodlands,) have actually completely dried up. First time I have ever seen that happen in the 7 or so years I have been here.

It's pissing down today though. Grin It's a bit of a relief though, as it's been humid for days and it was making me feel a tad queasy!!!
