Theonlytime similar here. Many moons ago when I was on the wards we had a patient And family members making all sorts of accusations about the staff, some outrageous, and they also went to the local papers etc. We had to deal with this for over a year because any attempt to discharge was blocked and any treatment was blocked. The patient was finally moved to a different ward after it went right up to the clinical board. Staff had to go in pairs and it eventually got to the point where care was compromised if the only staff available were male. The patient was moved to another ward and the problem continued there for about another year until the patient eventually died. It was horrendous and I've never forgotten the patients or family members names. That kind of shit stays with you

TheSlowLoris · 11/07/2017 20:48

This is turning into some sort of freak show, I'm disgusted by it. And at the centre is a very sick child who no one is really considering.

LovelyBath77 · 11/07/2017 20:48

About the GoFundMe. Okaaay, do Gofundme get a charge for doing this? What do they get out of it?

Could I just ask if the CG's parents have any kind of empathy with others who may have dying kids on their wards?

No they don't but that's okay. When you have a loved one on a unit like that you can barely compute your own feelings never mind having empathy for others.

The REST of CA however…...

Justgiving is different as the money HAS to go to a UK registered charity - and is held in escrow until the relevant terms have been complied with (eg Marathon fundraising)

GoFundMe states that it does not even check if the campaigns re Legal .....

Supersoaryflappypigeon · 11/07/2017 20:50

Just had a look on CA fb page. They are unhinged. I have never seen anything like it.

BoreOfWhabylon · 11/07/2017 20:50

I' m not a Facebook member so, although I can see the CA posts I can't see the profile details of the posters.

On our last thread someone said that one of the hunz spouting loadsabollocks was employed by a (named) ambulance trust.

Can I ask that people who can do so check the profiles of the more... intemperate posters please. If they appear to be affiliated with any healthcare organisation please please take screenshots of the offending posts and forward to the organisation/employer.

I can guarantee that the organisation will have a social media policy and that such posts are likely to be in breach of it.

GoFundMe take 5%
think of them as Paypal for personal causes

goodbyestranger · 11/07/2017 20:51

I doubt any credible evidence is capable of being lodged tomorrow which meets the judge's criteria so if the hearing is set for 10am Thursday I assume the final decision will be made very shortly thereafter. I can't imagine any grounds for appeal but in the unlikely event that an appeal was granted then I reckon there's a good chance at that stage of the pro bono lawyers resigning. They're probably under a moral obligation to see Thursday's hearing through but once that's done, I would say they've already gone above and beyond.

goodbyestranger · 11/07/2017 20:53

TinselTwins that's not my experience - I felt an enormous bond with other parents.

LovelyBath77 · 11/07/2017 20:53

Oh no, just remembered something. A few years ago we had an incident where I was sent home from hospital with something and nearly died, we wrote a complaint and I had complications, needed re-admittance. notes had been collected by a solicitor (didn't peruse a negligence case) but on that occasion the staff came in in pairs too, and I was given my own room etc, it was all a bit weird. They had these staff too, agency staff I think, they didn;t have name badges to identify them anyway. i'm not sure if that was as it was busy though, but I seemed to get people in and out lots and one often was making notes while the other one did stuff. I did have serious complications though which may have merited the concern and needed middle of the night surgery. Staff did seem nervous, but I was not a very easy patient to be honest. I have since written and apologised for not being very easy. i wonder if something like that might have happened with me..

@Lightlovelife
No I don't buy it. Seems like maybe something has scared them.
I have had no reply from my email to them.
'Our data got compromised' does not explain how they ever got access to our data in the first place.

TinselTwins · 11/07/2017 20:55

On our last thread someone said that one of the hunz spouting loadsabollocks was employed by a (named) ambulance trust
probably as a cleaner or some sort of admin Wink

There was a "nurse" on there talking utter shite "facts". At best they may have been a home care HCA but no way were they any sort of qualified nurse, not least because if they were they'ld have known that what they were posting was against the NMC code!

TheLastAvocado · 11/07/2017 20:55

This is insane. Utterly insane.

These women twittering about what a "chunky monkey" he is- he's bloated, ill and dying.

It's grotesque.

I am donating to GOSH and sending a message of support. My mum is a nurse and the thought of her & her lovely colleagues being in the firing line of people like CA horrifies me

Rabbitnothare · 11/07/2017 20:57

When you run a charity which is basically what is happening uou have to have a seperate bank acc and keep recorded accs of everything donated and all expenses, at some point the charities commission will do an audit because they will be very aware of what is going on

This is what one of the CA admins have posted on another page in response to queries about the money.

TinselTwins · 11/07/2017 20:58

TinselTwins that's not my experience - I felt an enormous bond with other parents

I didn't mean that nobody has compassion for others in those circumstances, I was just explaining why I thought it was okay for CGs parents to not be thinking of others right now, as seems to be the case for them IYKWIM

AlabamaShakes · 11/07/2017 20:59

Bore I didn't think of that re. Buying email addresses.

So the petition handed to the hospital, reported by the MSM, that looks like 350,000 people are supporting could be fake.

Anyone know when this particular petition was started? Be interesting to find out if it was when the dubious pastor and his cronies got involved.

LapinR0se · 11/07/2017 21:00

I should imagine that on Thursday gosh will make reference to the bloating in their evidence of his declining health. It's not healthy growth and looking like a gorgeous little tank Hmm
A few people have said that on the CA page - that he looks bloated - and their posts have all been deleted

reallyanotherone · 11/07/2017 21:00

There's also an american woman they all love that says she is "a mito sufferer and neuroscientist"

I have, admittedly not very thoroughly, checked for a list of publications but can't find any reference to her working in the field.

goodbyestranger · 11/07/2017 21:01

Yes TinselTwins I'm just disagreeing - I reckon that the normal reaction would be to feel other parents' pain more keenly. Other parents on our unit were extraordinary, in desperate circumstances. It was humbling. Brothers in Arms and all that.

JennyOfOldstones · 11/07/2017 21:02

I don't get why they are talking about flying him to America. As I understand it the doctor at Columbia has offered to send the reagents to GOSH so they can do it themselves. I get that it is unlikely to work and even if it did, the damage is likely irreversible but at least then the parents could have some closure. There must be a reason this isn't an option?? Other than needing emergency FDA approval.

Venusflytwat · 11/07/2017 21:03

It's not an option because he's a person, not a specimen in a laboratory.

GabsAlot · 11/07/2017 21:04

fair enough i didnt know thy wereent checked i'll be mindful of that in the future

reallyanotherone · 11/07/2017 21:04

It's not a registered charity is it?

Charities do have to do all that. But you can't register as a charity if it is soley for on child. Charities by definition must be for general benefit.

I just don't get how anybody can look at a ventilated, paralysed child and come to the conclusion they're "thriving".
