Where are the families of Yates and gard? They are always alone. Do their families not support what they are doing?

Redglitter · 11/07/2017 16:33

I think it speaks volumes that Trump is silent as he's not one to let an opportunity pass by

Totally agree He's been incredibly quiet on the subject after his demands that the PM discuss the case with him. I think once he's realised the situation and how far it's gone via the courts etc he's taken a massive step back.

GemmaWella81 · 11/07/2017 16:35

So the 'bright star' they bought is in the Southern Hemisphere.... Can't even see it from the UK.

That's ignoring the logic of 'buying' a star btw.

TheWeeWitch · 11/07/2017 16:36

I read somewhere that for the court proceedings this week the parents are on their fourth set of lawyers. That tells me they aren't good at taking on advice, even from those who are helping them.

MommaGee · 11/07/2017 16:36

No that's the one representing Charlies interests. She's provided by the court I think so not sure who pays her

WeyHay · 11/07/2017 16:37

He also has organ damage, surely that must cause pain

I watched an elderly member of my family die slowly, due to gradual heart failure. Their heart was not strong enough to feed the internal organs with blood/oxygen, and the organs were gradually failing.

It must have been very very painful: the pain was ameliorated by morphine (administered by mouth). In the last 2 days of his life, we could always tell when there was more morphine needed, as there were clear visible indications - but his body/brain/consciousness was there enough for the brain to send signals to the muscles. Even in an almost unconscious state.

So any person with a bit of imagination might well start to comprehend the pain of organ failure.

MommaGee · 11/07/2017 16:38

DarthMaiden · 11/07/2017 16:39

@Lightlovelife

The other 5 are listed in the letter.

They have not made any other statements afaik.

The main point is that in their letter - that is being used to claim they support the parents - they argued that there was evidence, albeit untested, that the blood brain barrier could be penetrated.

They did not say this treatment could help Charlie specifically nor made any judgement on if it was appropriate to treat him.

As such saying they "support" the parents when they are specificity speaking in the context of treating Charlie and giving him a chance is not factually correct.

ExConstance · 11/07/2017 16:40

She will be funded, I think the Guardian ad litem and legal rep are funded via the official solicitors office.

I've seen the comments now, not a frequent user of Facebook and didn't realise much of the content complained of could only be accessed by clicking on the "see more" type thingy.

Sirzy · 11/07/2017 16:41

Their families are busy stirring up CA online and feeding the false hope

sodablackcurrant · 11/07/2017 16:41

I am happy that GOSH have done everything they can and have placed everything before the courts to make the decision one way or another.

That decision will be based on FACTS and EVIDENCE, not some screamer or deluded non medical individual. I trust the courts and GOSH whatever the decision.

Regarding GOSH staff being traumatised by this and exposed to vitriol and possible violence etc., I do not think so. I believe they (and all medical staff anywhere) are highly trained to deal with fallout like this, and will have the support of their hospital trust. They are professionals, please give them credit, and I know most of you do.

My big red flag (apart from all the other stuff), is where is the money going and FOR WHAT. Qui bono from all the millions if Charlie sadly passes away soon. Who gets it?

It all should be donated to GOSH. With a portion to cover expenses for the parents perhaps. Is there any legal trust/agreement looking after the millions? Perhaps there is, I really hope so. I do not want this to turn into anything dodgy.

Plenty of people have sick, ill and dying children who have few resources. I am sorry, the whole debacle is sickening.

I hope that poor child is not in pain, and he is released from his suffering very soon. That is the only way I can look at it now. I cannot even think of him being poked and prodded at anymore, with experimental drugs with no guaranteed outcome whatsoever.

It is sad, but I think most people have the sense to see it for what it is, a sick child, a difficult decision, but one that many parents have to make every single day with none of this circus going on at all.

Best to ignore and do not even open anything connected with the mob. Times like this I am so glad I am not and never felt the need to be signed up to FB.

LovelyBath77 · 11/07/2017 16:42

Yes, having had organ damage myself (bowel ischemia) I wouldn't wish that on anyone. It was worse than anything, childbirth even. I'm only here as the NHS operated to remove it, as leads to sepsis. I wonder if Charlie has antibiotics to prevent sepsis.

This is the latest thing CA are raving about.

@Lonelymummyof1

I've been thinking of you and your DD Flowers

LogicalPsycho · 11/07/2017 16:42

I suppose CA think that "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” it troubles me deeply that their views are so despised.

I think this quote is entirely irrelevant to the situation, since for the past 8 months, GOSH have done everything in their power to keep Charlie alive and try to make him well. It sadly has not worked.

If GOSH were 'doing nothing', Charlie would be dead. It's as simple as that.

I don't think even the Barmy Army would stoop to thinking GOSH have done nothing of use for him.

seasidesally · 11/07/2017 16:43

my sympathy for the parents is pretty thin now and all the merchandise,tv interviews etc is all coming across as being caught up in some sought of addictive media attention

they had no problems months ago with GOSH treating their child and having the best care and knowledge avaliable but now its not what they want to here GOSH dont know their job etc

they should step away from this circus and spend possibly the last few weeks with their son as if it carrys on like this they possibly may regret their actions at this critical time

LovelyBath77 · 11/07/2017 16:43

Funded by who?

Lonelymummy I hope FB is not too upsetting, I find myself I need to stay away from these types on there.

One of the other 5 doctors is reportedly a scientist from Cambridge

www.cambridge-news.co.uk/news/cambridge-news/scientist-cambridge-reportedly-backs-new-13301644

Sirzy · 11/07/2017 16:50

From that article

The letter says the therapy is still at an experimental stage and that more tests are needed, but says "...there is insufficient time to perform these studies to justify treatment for Charlie Gard."

So even the letter sent to them by these "experts" makes it clear the drug isn't read yet to be used.

So basically they want him to be a guinea pig.

callmeadoctor · 11/07/2017 16:50

When I was in this situation, being presented with goodies like smellies etc would not have felt appropriate. I would have immediately given them to the staff. The last thing you would want is to look after yourself in any way. Getting us to eat or drink was a chore (but the Alder Hey nurses made us look after ourselves as much as they could)

LogicalPsycho · 11/07/2017 16:51

Where are the families of Yates and gard? They are always alone. Do their families not support what they are doing?

Chris Gard's sister couldn't possibly offer the couple practical support, since she's too busy on the financial side of things, running the online Merchandise Store that sells iPhone cases, air fresheners and sweetie cones with his face on.

reallyanotherone · 11/07/2017 16:52

I reckon they'll keep the money, and use it to finance the birth and possible care of any further children in the usa.

Or use it for ivf and pre-implantation testing.

Although If there is a cure for charlie's disease out there as they think, you wouldn't need embryo screening.

nina2b · 11/07/2017 16:54

Keep the money? Eh?

Peepeep · 11/07/2017 16:54

Place marking.

I just read this Telegraph article (www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/07/10/charlie-gards-parents-stressed-hopeful-ahead-new-court-hearing/) and this, quite from Connie stood out...

"We expect that structural damage is irreversible, but I have yet to see something which tells me my son has irreversible structural brain damage."

I really fear for how she is going to cope if this doesn't go their way and if/when Charlie dies. Recovery from the loss of a child must be something that you never fully move on from, but it must be made so much harder when you are 100% in denial about the facts of the situation. Sad
