Incredibly painful sore throats that only happens in the middle of the night?

Had a sore throat for about one week now. It's got better in the day every day until it's basically non existent in the morning.

But at night I think it might actually be getting worse? Confused Been woke up from the pain for 3 days straight. My tongue swells up too and is all ridged from being pushed against my teeth. It hurts to swallow my own spit.

What they fuck is wrong?

Friday and Monday I happened to have doc appts so just asked my gps to have a look and they both said it liokenirritated but nothing to worry about. But it's fucking killing me and almost feels like it's in my ear now. Pain is way worse i my left side which first doc noted was slightly worse looking

Is it just that it's getting dry at night so more irritated?

DoodleCat · 11/07/2017 02:26

Hay fever could be the cause. Sometimes it flares at night.

Heartburn? I.e. stomach acid coming up your throat at night while you're lying down

sananbaz · 11/07/2017 02:29

Sounds like gastro-oesohageal reflux. Is it like you've swallowed bleach?? A burning pain? Acid reflux is worse when you are led down, due to gravity keeping it down whilst you are upright. I had it for years, with repeated tonsillitis before diagnosis. Worth considering anyway.

Do you have sudden smelly breath?

Bunlicker · 11/07/2017 09:10

Thanks for replies!

I don't think it's reflux it's less burny than cutty if that makes sense? And I had acid during pregnancy which was horrendous but different.

Not sure about my breath, no one has mentioned it!

I was up most of the night with the pain of it. I do think I have figured something u though. Have you ever had a tonsil stone? I get them and the pain is kind of located there, could it be related to that?
