AIBU to want to know where my son is?

DS is three, Maybe twice a month he stays with grandparents overnight and they play with him all of the next day and bring him home which is awesome!

First time this happened they took him to the coast 50miles away. I absolutely don't mind him going but I would have liked to be told he was that far away, DH says it doesn't matter and he's safe which of course I appreciate they're perfectly capable of caring for him. But I feel like local trips, no problem, 50 miles away... just let me know.

Is that unreasonable? I can't really justify why I feel I need to know that he's that far away, but as his mum I like to have a general idea!

I personally don't think that's unreasonable. I would have wanted to know.

Not unreasonable at all, its just natural parental instinct to want to know where your child is and that they're safe. 50 miles would take you a while to travel if something happened, so naturally, you want to know before they're taken somewhere a distance away.

We have our little grandson quite a lot Monday and Friday afternoons and stays over every few weeks I send photos in a msg when I get chance so they know what he's up to and that he's happy ,it's very easy to do and I'm sure they find it reassuring perhaps they can do that?xx

Yanbu. They probably just hadn't thought to tell report to you. I would like to know too. Just ask them light heartedly what their plans are next time.

What's the cut off point where they have to let you know?

It's obviously somewhere between "local"
and 50 miles, so what about 23.7? Is that ok. How about 33.5?

Can't see how where they are makes the slightest a difference to the fact that he is being looked after and presumably having fun tbh.

@Scoobydoobydont local for us would be the nearest three towns. Anywhere between there and the coast is fields.
