To shower backwards. Whichever way do you?

Plumber sorting shower today. DF said put it on this wall, later said you face window when showering. I said well I'll face sink but shower will be on window wall. Long story short. DF faces the shower and was incredulous that I don't. I have my back to shower when I'm washing my hair and body and only turn round to wash suds off. He said he can't believe anyone would do this.
Have I been doing it wrong all my life? How do you shower?

Stereotypes? Boys face shower to get the dangly bits washed, girls back to the shower to wash hair, boys with long hair are conflicted :)

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/07/2017 19:27

We have rainfall shower (ie from above) but I still stand slightly forward so the water goes behind my back.

Your Dh is bVvv U !

lovemycatsanddog · 07/07/2017 19:46

Back to the shower,to wash hair, then turn around to wash front
Im short,

RainbowPastel · 07/07/2017 20:07

Face shower all the time. I take the shower head off the wall to do my back.

SciFiFan2015 · 07/07/2017 20:13

Both and spin and take the shower head off to rinse more tactically! Start facing, love to splash my face and push the hair back off my face. I take a massive 7 minutes in the shower. I know I should get it down to 5 minutes but I have a routine I'm finding hard to change.

Acornantics · 07/07/2017 20:19

Always back to shower, facing outwards...to fend off potential interlopers...has no one ever sees Psycho? Sheesh!

MargotMoon · 07/07/2017 20:21

Mostly back to the shower, occasionally turning round

GotToGetMyFingerOut · 07/07/2017 20:22

My dh faces the shower as his face is above the jets and he bends down to rinse his hair and wash his face. I stand with my back to dye jets as I'm under them and don't fancy the water blasting in my face the whole time.

ClopySow · 07/07/2017 20:22

Both. Facing to get wet, backwards to wet hair and rinse hair, facing again cos its lovely.

mrsclaus100 · 07/07/2017 20:25

I too would shower your way OP but now you mention it I have realised DH showers the other way. We have both seen each other showering many a time but neither of us have noticed our different methods.......I don't know what's more strange 🤔

AtSea1979 · 07/07/2017 20:41

Haha some of these replies are hilarious. I think there's a def male/female long/short hair divide!

Back to the shower! Don't like water on my face lol. Plus getting super hot water (I like my hot showers!) on your face or shampoo residue is bad for your skin and can give you wrinkles and spots

NapQueen · 07/07/2017 20:51

Me (female) - face water, wet body. Turn and wet back and hair. Back to the front, wash body. Turn, shampoo and rinse. Conditioner and rinse. Turn forwards wash face. Get out.

Dh (male) - faces shower. Turns once in a shower.

Maybe its to do with long hair?

Crumbs1 · 07/07/2017 21:01

Shower comes out of ceiling so I am underneath and can't be back or front to shower.

ClopySow · 07/07/2017 21:04

If i have a hangover, it's a definite facing the shower situation, no turning to wet hair. I also run it cold to shock myself out of it.

FastAbsorbingCake · 07/07/2017 21:15

Face shower to get wet.

Then face shower screen/curtain while shampooing/soaping up. Saw Psycho at a vulnerable age.. back to shower to rinse hair and twril to rinse body.

UNLESS DP is away, then all down facing screen.

FastAbsorbingCake · 07/07/2017 21:16

*done facing screen

We just redid our bathroom and basically have 2 showers in one- a fixed square rainfall head in the ceiling and a hose-type he'd on a sliding rail on the back wall. DH never uses the hose and I never use the rainfall. Similarly he wanted a rail for his towel and I wanted hooks for mine. It was quite fascinating talking about the details of how we did stuff in the bathroom, including him demonstrating how much space he needed to splay out his legs when taking a dump!

I use the hose head and stand with my back to it, head just above my own head, so that the water runs down the back of my long hair and not in my eyes. I think I do spin a bit, but could easily wash my face just by tipping my head back. I also take the hose off the rail to rinse my intimate areas properly!

On non hair wash days I still have back to shower but lower the head to shoulder height and wear a shower cap.

My FIL recently revealed that he finds it unthinkable to leave the water running while he soaps up. However it makes sense because he spent his whole working life crewing ships so water was a limited resource and the habit has just stuck on dry land.

Dunkling · 08/07/2017 08:20

Back to shower always so the mad murderous knifeman can't get me. Yes, I check under the bed too.

TwoBobs · 08/07/2017 08:22

Just wanted to say we've just had a shower fitted. We haven't had one for 4 years!!!

It's so bloody lovely having a shower.

I can't believe we went 4 years with just a bath. Never again!

I'm a twirler, start at the front, then turn to do my hair and soap, then turn to the front again.

Mix56 · 08/07/2017 16:13

here where I am, water is a precious commodity, & have water meters, it is actually unthinkable to leave it running whilst soaping

RaspberryOverloadsOnIcepops · 08/07/2017 16:48

I face the shower, washing my hair with my head down. It avoids all the hairs lodging in your bumcrack when washed with your back to the shower. I do turn and wash my body with my back to the shower, though.

llangennith · 08/07/2017 16:51

Back and hair to the shower. Maybe it's a women with longer hair thing?

MsSusanStoHelit · 08/07/2017 16:55

Back to the shower mostly but I do twirl. It's mainly because I dislike having the water running on my face, hate it.
