To shower backwards. Whichever way do you?

Plumber sorting shower today. DF said put it on this wall, later said you face window when showering. I said well I'll face sink but shower will be on window wall. Long story short. DF faces the shower and was incredulous that I don't. I have my back to shower when I'm washing my hair and body and only turn round to wash suds off. He said he can't believe anyone would do this.
Have I been doing it wrong all my life? How do you shower?

I wash my hair with my back to the shower, but my body facing towards it

This. Just occurred to me I've never seen people do this in films or adverts, but it's normal to me!

ToothTrauma · 07/07/2017 17:02

I face th shower. Only turn around to get hair wet and then rinse it off. I twiddle the shower head around (oo-er) depending on what I'm doing.

SwedishEdith · 07/07/2017 17:03

Twirler. Don't wash my hair every day so try to avoid head getting wet. After soaping, I always feel my arms are redundant in the shower.

JennyGreenteeth · 07/07/2017 17:04

Back to shower but I do turn around to wash suds off. I also do some impressive dangerous one-legged balancing to shave legs.

Dh faces the shower and always turns the water off to lather up and then turns it on again to rinse off.

SoyUnPerdedor2 · 07/07/2017 17:04

Quick shower is facing shower. Turn to rinse back and bum.

Shower with hair wash is a mix. Long hair means back facing shower.

DixieFlatline · 07/07/2017 17:05

DH (allegedly) spends the majority of the time with his back to the shower, as do I.

The only time I've seen men face the shower is in films where they've just done something stressful or traumatic and feel the need to dip their head under the stream and stare pensively downwards, occasionally with some fish-bobbing of the mouth and maybe some face-rubbing.

RightOnTheEdge · 07/07/2017 17:05

I was going to say back to the shower, but now I've read the other replies I think I'm a twirler Grin

DixieFlatline · 07/07/2017 17:05

Quick shower is facing shower.

Ah yes, on the occasions I don't wash my hair, I am forced to face the shower.

apostropheuse · 07/07/2017 17:06

Front to shower then turn around.. Surely both front side and backside need exposed to the blast of water?!

Allabitmuchisntit · 07/07/2017 17:08

Back to the shower. Turn round a bit to rinse off. But I'm gonna try facing into shower later to see what all the fuss is about Grin

user1491623537 · 07/07/2017 17:10

I must be the only one that sits down on the shower floor facing it then...

Nikephorus · 07/07/2017 17:11

I'm another twirler. I have my back to the shower when I'm sticking the shampoo in but that's more because then it feels like I have more room as opposed to having the shower head etc. in my space. The rest of the time I'm turning to get the water on whatever wants it.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 07/07/2017 17:14

Mainly backwards here with a forwards rinse.

DH stands sideways on.
I may have to LTB

CaveMum · 07/07/2017 17:15

Normally back to the shower, but now we've got a rainfall head so I just stand under the stream and move to the side/switch the water off to lather up.

Mrscaindingle · 07/07/2017 17:16

Back to the shower...but now you mention it any man I have lived with has showered face first. Have never even given this any thought before!

Mix56 · 07/07/2017 17:16

sideways !!! there is a reason

StormTreader · 07/07/2017 17:16

Backwards - I do not like water pouring into my face.

I suspect more men shower forwards because they are taller and the shower head is mounted by a man so the water hits them at shoulder height instead. The bastards Grin

HipsterHunter · 07/07/2017 17:20

Back to the shower. Obviously.

BewareTheUndertoad · 07/07/2017 17:24

I face the shower to wash my front and turn my back to it to wash my hair. I step away from it to lather up and scrub myself then turn round as I rinse.

Hastalapasta · 07/07/2017 17:28

Back and twirl, had to mime that in the kitchen to be sure! Cat is a bit Confused but that's normal.....

LapinR0se · 07/07/2017 17:29

I know from a previous job that men tend to face the shower while women tend to put their backs to it.
A study of 1500 households in the uk showed this insight. Those households had cameras mounted in their bathrooms for a month, can you imagine!

BoffinMum · 07/07/2017 17:30

OMG all this time I thought everyone faced the shower

caoraich · 07/07/2017 17:31

Back to the shower wall, but directly underneath shower head so I don't suppose it really matters (rainfall type one). When away/using hose type showers then yes def back to shower head.

DP is a deviant and stands side - on. "I like to look out the glass and sometimes draw pictures in it" Hmm

MrsRhubarb · 07/07/2017 17:32

Facing shower. Am total short arse, but so is DH so we fitted our shower lower than most people would have it. I turn my back to the shower to do hair, but for washing face and body I face the shower. Maybe mostly because facing that way I can reach the shower gel etc?

Allthebestnamesareused · 07/07/2017 17:32

Forwards to wash self, turn, backwards to was hair
