to ask if you have equal measures of wine

2 of us. DH and I. matching wine glasses. We fill our glasses level. One of the matching glasses has broken leaving 2 very different ones.

One of us - I will not say who - has taken to decanting the wine into a measuring jug to ensure equal measures are distributed until new glasses are purchased.

Is the whole equal measures thing weird or the done thing?

The reason for the jug is thimble vs golfish sizes of glasses

Why do you only own 2 wine glasses? See comment re quartz work surfaces and being sad fuckers who don't have people round...

No, I choose not to drink as much as DH. Just drink what you want.

MyOtherNameIsTaken · 07/07/2017 16:56

You've just reminded me to put my wine in the fridge for tonight! Wine

TupperwareTat · 07/07/2017 16:56

Im with the measurer on this one. It must be equal Wine

SaucyJack · 07/07/2017 16:57

Oh, I'd totally do this if we only had one bottle in.

DP would think it childish and weird- but he's a greedy fucking pig about wine.

Bitchfromhell · 07/07/2017 17:03

Is this one of those situations where you also have to count out the spaghetti strands/cheerios to make sure it's fair? Grin

Troubleinstore · 07/07/2017 17:09

We let one person serve the portions and the other gets to choose first
Works especially well with cake. ..not much chance of one being bigger than the other!

birdsdestiny · 07/07/2017 17:09

I don't really understand the question. Are you sharing wine? 😮

Goingtobeawesome · 07/07/2017 17:10

This thread has made me realise that when dh and I both have wine, rare for me to have it, he always has more than me.

Easyonthetonic · 07/07/2017 17:12

Just have one bottle each.

TheEmmaDilemma · 07/07/2017 17:30

What saucey Jack said. I'd be on my first and find the bottle empty. Rule is either own bottles or no filling until I'm ready and equal measures.

Mymouthgetsmeintrouble · 07/07/2017 17:41

What a meanie

IWantABlueBanana · 07/07/2017 21:47

My poor dh has no idea! Tbf it was him that smashed the last remaining matching glass and he knows i prefer my yin(tis for medical reasons i promise i spill from one but not the other) Guess which glass is mine?

Apologies for the dodgy monkey, i cleared the kitchen 2 hours ago of dc shit and here we are.

to ask if you have equal measures of wine
to ask if you have equal measures of wine
SilentlyScreamingAgain · 07/07/2017 21:56

This has gone much better than the unequal measures of food threads, where someone always pops up to say that she's smaller than a man so only ever eats half a spud and a pinch of dust.

Cheers.

BeepBeepMOVE · 07/07/2017 21:57

That's odd. Just drink how much you want, top up when needed.

You sound like 5year olds counting out crisps or something.

KatnissMellark · 07/07/2017 22:03

We're on holiday and the cutesy cottage we're in has mismatched glasses. DH keeps pouring himself a full large glass and giving me a thimble-full. I may have to kill him.

Flisspaps · 07/07/2017 22:06

Order new glasses from Amazon now. Stick the odd glasses in the recycling. Tell DH to stick his jug up his arse. Drink all the wine yourself.

toots111 · 07/07/2017 22:09

I'm upset about wine in a plastic jug to go be honest. We drink wine out of tumblers here. I've broken too many wine glasses.

kel1234 · 07/07/2017 22:11

It seems very odd to me. My dh doesn't drink wine but say he did, we would just pour.
We never measure any type of drink (if my wine glass isn't full I wonder what went wrong Wine).

jelliebelly · 07/07/2017 22:20

Weird and childish

Impatientwino · 07/07/2017 22:25

Pinkheart - I love your 'happy level'

I have one of those too - spent years training DH to get it right when it's his turn to top up and now he over estimates so as not to disappoint which works for me!

TheHouseOfIllRepute · 07/07/2017 22:32

I'd measure but my DH is a greedy fucker when it comes to wine
All our glasses are the same and I watch carefully if he pours

Ihopeyouhadthetimeofyourlife · 07/07/2017 22:37

See my problem is, both DH and I do love a bottle glass of wine. So much so that to avoid inadvertent overconsumption we generally make sure to have only the one bottle in.

If we don't measure fairly equally I get to the end of my first glass to find he's necked the rest of the bottle, which doesn't make for a harmonious family life.

Ergo, we do make sure the glasses about equal and wait for each other. We haven't yet resorted to a measuring jug though but BIL does
