How did this get made- if you like rubbish movies, it is SO funny.
WTF with Marc Maron- great interviews and really funny
Doug Loves Movies

Assburgers · 07/07/2017 11:56

My favourite funny one is Grownups Read Things They Wrote As Kids. I had to stop listening to it when I was walking around as I was getting funny looks from laughing too hard.

I like The Moth for stories. Some beautiful ones on there.

araiwa · 07/07/2017 11:57

Mark kermode radio 5 movie show

cabbagefordinner · 07/07/2017 12:03

Casefile is a good true crime podcast.

Shoxfordian · 07/07/2017 12:05

Generation Why is good for crime if you like that
The shoemaker episode is so messed up..

Also I like Amber Rose Loveline about sex and relationships. It's quite explicit but entertaining

The New Yorker have a phemonemal one just called the New Yorker fiction podcast which has a different author each month pick a short story by another author from the magazines archives and first have a chat about it and that writer, what they like about them etc with the fiction editor, and then they read the story. Then after, the fiction ed and the author talk some more about it. It's great, like a little condensed book club, and the stories are all really varied - the only link is that the quality is usually really high.

It's great, you find a lot of new authors to read to.

pandarific · 07/07/2017 12:06

*too

Hillarious · 07/07/2017 12:09

Anything on Radio 4 - apart from too big a majority of the 6.30 pm "comedies" and In Our Time (you need to hold a dictionary as well as the baby to understand what Mr Bragg's on about). They have great dramas and interesting current affairs programmes. The BBC Radio iPlayer is your friend!

VictoriaMcdade · 07/07/2017 12:10

I Love MFM!

Stay sexy. Don't get murdered.

pandarific · 07/07/2017 12:13

Also, selected shorts is brilliant too - well known actors read the stories in front of a live audience in NY so you get the laughs etc as well.

TheLionQueen1 · 07/07/2017 12:14

Court Junkie
Sword and Scale
Minds of Madness
Casefile
Generation Why

I love a good crime podcast! Hate MfM, I find the ladies really irritating!

Coldilox · 07/07/2017 12:18

The Guilty Feminist is brilliant

FreakinDeacon · 07/07/2017 12:28

I've just started listening to Criminal and Reveal - enjoying both so far.

Beyond reasonable doubt from Radio 5 live is good but a story that's been told several times before so you may have heard it in another format.

Heavyweight is good if you like Human Interest stories although there's only one series of that.

S-Town was good if a bit odd.

My all time favourite is Reply All.

TheStoic · 07/07/2017 12:45

Are you on Facebook?

Many great groups on there which have led me to podcasts I'd never heard of before.

Try Podcasts We Listen To for starters.

TheLionQueen1 · 07/07/2017 13:02

Try Podcasts We Listen To for starters.

Agree with TheStoic you can get some great recommendations on that group and lots of the hosts on there!

Auldspinster · 07/07/2017 13:04

Agree that the guilty feminist is great. Richard Herring's Leicester Square podcast and Adam Buxton are also must hear.

StormTreader · 07/07/2017 13:06

All Killa No Filla is one I quite like, but theres a lot of chat so the "no filla" isnt quite right!
This American Life
Radio Lab
Generation Why
Serial
Planet Money
More or Less

MothertotheLordsofmisrule · 07/07/2017 13:27

I just found Sawbones - it's about a different disease/condition and they talk about the historical misconceptions about the cause and sometimes wacky cures.
Its by one of the McElroy brothers and his doctor wife.

GingerMcGrey · 07/07/2017 13:36

I love Freakanomics, really diverse subjects covered but very entertaining.

Mrsemcgregor · 07/07/2017 13:37

Thinking Sideways Smile

WardrobeMalfunction · 07/07/2017 13:44

There's a radio play starring Catherine Keener and David Schwimmer called Homecoming. It has 6 (?) parts and season 2 is starting shortly. It's interesting if you're looking for something different from the usual non-fiction thing.

Not sure if it's alredy been mentioned, but Invisibilia is superb and will change how you see the world. I would put it up there with Serial and S-town for quality.

Fortnum · 07/07/2017 14:27

Joe Rogan Experience
The Doug Stanhope Podcast episode itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-doug-stanhope-podcast/id610821246?mt=2&i=169120679 this and the cliffhamger episode will make you laugh and cry

Dan Carlins Hardcore History
Dan Carlins Commin Sense
Sam Harris Waking Up

macaronip1e · 07/07/2017 14:30

Many of those above, but also

Revisionist history
Criminal
Reply all

TonicAndTonic · 07/07/2017 14:32

I was going to suggest My Dad Wrote a Porno but it's already on OP's list. Good choice!

Not got anything to add for crime or pop culture, but my current favourites are the agony aunt type ones, like Dear Sugar Radio or Savage Lovecast

BeckywiththeGoodHare · 07/07/2017 14:34

I love You Must Remember This!

Also, the Dear Prudie advice podcasts from Slate are great.
