The QI Elves' podcast - No Such Thing As A Fish is excellent and lots in the back catalogue

Gretchen Rubin's Happier Podcast is great. She is a little much but her sister balances the conversation.

Glamour Magazine's Hey, It's Ok is good as well - they have some great guests (Graham Norton/Dawn French etc)

thenorthernluce · 07/07/2017 14:50

My favourites:

Guilty Feminist
Reply All
99% Invisible
RadioLab
Sword and Scale
They Walk Among Us
Reveal
Missing Richard Simmons
In the Dark

Can't wait to try some of the other recommendations!

Quimby · 07/07/2017 15:14

Came in to say my dad wrote a porno and how did this get made.

Quite simply the two best podcasts going.
TBH my list and yours overlap a lot, you're pretty much killing it podcast wise.

If you like sport
Fighting talk, football weekly, second captains

Movies: little white lies

Comedy: two dope queens, I also like WTF with Marc Maron and Anna Farris unqualified but find they're hit and miss or I have to be in a very particular mood for them.

Pomegranate85 · 07/07/2017 15:18

No Such Thing as a Fish
The Modern Mann

Pretenditsaplan · 07/07/2017 15:23

Im very into good mythical morning atm.

Ladygaggia · 07/07/2017 15:25

Oh I love No Such Thing as a Fish - going to see them on tour!
Also like Answer Me This
Risk
The Infinite Monkey Cage
Friday Night Comedy - Radio 4

Pomegranate85 · 07/07/2017 16:39

You've got excellent taste gaggia!

19lottie82 · 07/07/2017 16:46

I love true crime podcasts and CASEFILE is definitely the best!

I also like They Walk Among Us and Felon

toolonglurking · 07/07/2017 16:57

Serial - it's bloody brilliant!

79Fleur · 07/07/2017 17:02

S Town
Serial
Undisclosed
Truth and justice (bob rough)
Unexplained (if you love lore which I do this one is fab - same but British)
Criminal
Watching this thread with interest as I love a good podcast!

goingonabearhunt1 · 07/07/2017 17:26

Gonna check out some of these suggestions!

Not sure if it's been mentioned but Call Your Girlfriend is good; two hosts chat about politics, feminism and pop culture.

Missfeebs · 07/07/2017 17:27

Ear hustle it's a new podcast made by the prisoners of San Quentin about life inside prison, I found it quite interesting

makeourfuture · 07/07/2017 17:31

Serial

Just started. Wasn't grabbing me - and then she brought in the missing alibi. Changes everything.

lastqueenofscotland · 07/07/2017 17:34

Athletico Mince is my favourite. It's utter nonsense/ downright absurdist but i save it for long drives and it always has me howling.

seething1234 · 07/07/2017 17:36

Trace - this is a new Australian podcast about a murder that happened in the 1980s. Fascinating, it's only 3 episodes in and they are appealing for new tips and information, so it has a kind of real time investigation to it.

Crimetown. The best podcast imo. It's the only podcast I would ever consider relistening to. Made by the people who did The Jinx. Amazing soundtrack too. Superb

In the dark. Covers the Jacob Wetterling abduction and all the tragic mistakes made in the investigation. Brilliant quality podcast.

Somebody knows Something season 2

Little Girl Lost; The Leeann Holland Story- Australian podcast based on murder of girl. There's one episode left and I just hooked.

The Vanished - weekly missing persons podcast

Court Junkie - weekly

Ear Hustle- new recorded in prison in America. I'm loving it.

This American Life. Can't go wrong with it.

They Walk Among us - uk crime

Crime Writers On - these guys are a wee bit annoying but it's fantastic place to find new podcasts and documentaries.

HoneyWheeler · 07/07/2017 17:37

Love This American Life and the Longest Shortest Time

HatieCockpins · 07/07/2017 17:43

Beautiful anonymous- phone in show where the caller remains anonymous and talks to the host for an hour about anything they choose.
Alice isn't dead- American road trip/mystery/conspiracy/thriller. Probably best not to listen to at bedtime!

Harrietf21 · 07/07/2017 18:31

For true crime I'd definitely recommend:

Someone Knows Something
In the Dark
Accused
True Crime Garage

My Favorite Murder is my current obsession, found their voices a bit annoying to start with but they are hilarious and articulate the obsession with true crime really well.

Harrietf21 · 07/07/2017 18:32

Also, The Parapod, which is a discussion about the paranormal between a believer and a non-believer and is one of the funniest things I have listened to.

SunsetBeetch · 08/07/2017 20:20

The Allusionist
Science Solved It

(Both self explanatory titles those two I think Smile )

Something True: an entertaining and amusingly narrated podcast about little bits of forgotten history.

The Truth: quality short stories of all types.

teawamutu · 09/07/2017 13:48

I've just discovered my love of podcasts so this thread is GOLD, thank you all Star

And another shout out for Serial and You Must Remember This - I don't even especially like old films but I'm hopelessly addicted to all the stories of the golden age of Hollywood.

FreakinDeacon · 09/07/2017 17:09

These are all great. I now have about 20 episodes of stuff to listen to plus I have subscribed to some more and will just wait for the next episode to download.

No more boring commute!!

BertrandRussell · 09/07/2017 17:20

Elis and John from Radiox is a favourite of mine.
The Allusionisr
Answer Me This
The Bugle
DumTeeDum
The Guilty Frminist
Adam Buxton (when he's interviewing someone interesting)
The Comedian's Comedian (ditto)
The Infinite Monkey Cage
The Week Unwrapped
Broadcasting House
The Skeptic's Guide to the Universe (although they do get tediously macho)
Kermode and Mayo
Greg Proops

BertrandRussell · 09/07/2017 17:23

Oh, and In Our Time is brilliant,

BertrandRussell · 09/07/2017 17:24

And The Frank Skinner Show. Don't care for his comedy usually, but I love this. Good if you like puns.... And Emily Dean is sooooo funny.
