DH is out.

The dog keeps growling at it and I keep hearing noises..

Ten minutes ago it fell over for no reason.

I want to put it in the garage but it has a window that leads into next doors garden and I wouldn't like to terrify their children....

Also, if I go over there I feel like it might get me.

Disclaimer: I've had a drink.

Now the Hexham heads are cool! My 'not-elvis' seems to be made of beeeze block material and is quite big....

Perhaps it's a death mask recreation? But if not Elvis, who??

I have to admit it was quite a startle to find him there but I feel an obligation to find him a new home in the garden.... perhaps I should paint him.... ooh Mexican Day of the dead style perhaps! Grin

Love your skeleton and love your chairs!!!

elephantoverthehill · 08/07/2017 23:54

I think 'Elvis' ought to go on top of a brick or stone gate post at the front of your house. You could then decorate him as to the time of year e.g. Day of the Dead, Santa Claus, 8th January look that one up, guy Faulkes etc.

Amazed at how many real bones are living with Mumsnetters. I was a St. John ambulance member as a youngster and we had Fred who was a box of bones. The woman n charge badly wanted a nice new plastic skeleton. I believe Fred was eventually buried....

ProfAnnieT · 09/07/2017 11:15

Is "Elvis" supposed to be Charlton Heston?

JeffVaderneedsatray · 09/07/2017 11:35

Back in the dark ages when I was a science teacher in a Middle School I wandered into my lab on my first ever day there and began opening cupboards to discover what they contained. As I opened one cupboard I came face to face with a human skull. I leapt about 6 foot in the air.
But Fred and I became firm friends. He was removed from the cupboard and lived on my desk.
The school was quite old and the previous science teacher had been there when it was a technical college before it became a middle school. I also discovered 3 enormous bottles of mercury and had to have them taken away by a chemicals firm.

We bought a similar one a couple of years ago, on holiday (in June), because it was on offer and DH thought it would be a good hallowe'en decoration for his workplace.

We had it sitting at the dining table/on the sofa of the cottage we were renting. One day there was a problem with the tap, which we'd advised the owner of - he came in to fix it whilst we were out for the day and skelly frightened the crap out of him.

We also dressed it up one day and took it out in the car for a drive.

Fluffybrain · 09/07/2017 11:55

I'm still laughing at 'LTB'!!

MarklahMarklah · 09/07/2017 11:58

We called him "Bert"

Ooh 'not-Elvis' does look a bit like Charlton.....

We can't have real bones at work now as you have to get licences for them which costs quite a bit re the human tissue act - www.csp.org.uk/frontline/article/advice-line-skeletons-cupboard so all the ones I have at home are plastic/resin as is the ones in the skills lab although we do apparently have a chimp skeleton in another Faculty.....

TheCatOfAthenry · 09/07/2017 17:26

I've just been on amazon to buy a teaching skeleton.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 10/07/2017 00:54

OMG his brother lives in my shed!
(scares the shit out of me ever so often but I love him really. For halloween he sat in the front graden in an old dress and a long black wig, we had significantly less trick-or-treaters than normal and a few kids cried, it was brilliant it was)

Patriciathestripper1 · 10/07/2017 01:31

We used to have a real human skeleton (male) dbil was a doctor and we inhereted him when he died. He used to sit in our library. (His name and age were on a tag)
I could never get past the fact he was a real person once so I took him and donated him to our local teaching hospital.
Someone told me recently that they can sell for over 7 grand! I was just happy he went back to help students.
