Average childminder rate is 6.37 an hour, for two children that's 12.74. Original suggestion was 4 hours a day, 3/4 days a week (let.s say 3.5). Fro six weeks that's 1,070 for the 6 weeks. Later OP said WORKzilla was asking for 7 am - 2 pm, that's 7 hours a day and would be 1,873.

That's just assuming average childminder rates, consistent requirements and no discount for second child. No idea if that's reasonable.

peukpokicuzo · 05/07/2017 06:46

Should be at least a 50% premium for the hours before 8.30 though.
At £6.37ph per child that would be £3,248.70. Many childminders would give a discount for 2nd child though. Say 20% and it's £2,923.83

Catching up has been almost worth the ridiculously early wake up call from my DS. Good job I'm not WORKing today, looking forward to knowing what happens on the school run.

WordWeasel · 05/07/2017 07:13

Actually, @MammaTJ, would you mind picking my two up this afternoon, since you're not doing any important WORK?

CalmItKermitt · 05/07/2017 07:18

clippityclock · 05/07/2017 07:20

ScrumpyBetty · 05/07/2017 07:22

We're behind you Fam. Your threads are brightening up my day.

By the way, mumsnet may well crash on the 17th as thousands of users will log on with bated breath to see if crazy WORKlady drops her children at your door!!

jellybeanteaparty · 05/07/2017 08:07

Fam I do hope you have a Disney equivalent holiday planned if not perhaps you "assumed " your childcare grabbing neighbour were taking you along as a thank you! It wouldn't need to be discussed just assumed of course that would happen

Catsize · 05/07/2017 08:07

Good luck Fam we're all cheering you on this morning!!

diddl · 05/07/2017 08:26

"OP could go to Disneyland too if she earned that!"

Perhaps it is worth reconsidering then?Grin

Nobody is going to believe that you forced her to accept free childcare starting at stupid o'clock for 6wks.

Jeez-if she had childcare booked & wanted to use it then that is what she would have been doing-I'm sure she would have been more than capable of refusing an offer that she didn't want!

vikingprincess81 · 05/07/2017 08:27

Another voice of support Flowers go kick arse fam not literally Wink

WhatwouldOliviaPopedo · 05/07/2017 08:31

Good luck Fam, we're all with you (in your pocket!). Just remember, you've done absolutely nothing wrong at any point in this scenario. Ignore, ignore, ignore.

Tinseleverywhere · 05/07/2017 08:32

Fam don't let all this drive you to start smoking. You are doing really well and have your own team lol. Ditch those cigs now before you start smoking properly again. If your anxiety is really causing you problems try to really make time for some self help things like breathing exercises etc, if that doesn't work see the GP.

BewareOfDragons · 05/07/2017 08:33

The 'Disneyland' money would be just a dream unless she paid in cash or direct deposit up front for the summer because she's not trustworthy to pay it after the fact.

Good luck, OP! I'm sure the school run will be interesting.

She really is thick skinned if she still believes that you are going to look after her children. Good luck with the school run this morning.

FacelikeaBagofHammers · 05/07/2017 08:43
