to be bored of the placemarking argument?

Some people placemark by leaving a comment (and because they want to see the possible deletion message) and others bookmark or add it to their watch lists.
I personally favour neither and dabble in a spot of both, depending which device I'm using.
I can accept this, we all have different ways of experiencing a website.

But I'm so bored of the placemarking argument. Why do people leave comments like "I wish people would stop leaving placemarking comments, it takes up space on the thread!", umm well what do you think that comment is doing? Hmm
Then it will decend into 20 posts of arguing back and forth about the way people like to experience forums and insults are thrown around. It is so much more tiresome than someone placemarking. Grin

This isn't about any specific thread, by the way, it's an observation from years of reading MN.

Nellie Exactly! But this has to be said on every vaguely dramatic thread. Then there is always a row. It just gets daft.

The only place marking that annoys me slightly is when it's in a thread where the OP is upset/having serious problems etc. At least put a small comment like 'thinking of you OP' rather than . or 'placemarking'. It just looks callous imo.

I agree OP.
Now, some poster place mark with nothing, no full stop, nothing. How do you do that?
