AIBU to think that thousands of people loving charlie and bradley is some what false.

Lonelymummyof1 · 01/07/2017 07:29

I know exactly what It is like to have a poorly child same as hundreds more parents in the uk.
Set aside my belief that I believe that bradley has very little dignity and both him and charlie are now used as some weird sort of click bait.

The supporters I do not understand it ?

We love you, we are heart broken and we will miss you.

Now I get empathy but this is not empathy this is media posts just gone crazy to write the most heart breaking post they can.
I wish neither of these children would have to lose their life and can undetstand the parents pain just like the rest of the terminally ill children in this country.

You can feel sad that these things happen but this just seems weird and could not imagine allowing a nation of people watching my child pass away.

I mean how many of them 2 years from now will wake up on the morning of their anniversary and automatically remember them ?

I don't want this to sound insensitive, but why are people still Retweeting the Gofundme page to send donations in for Charlie's treatment?
Even if the High Court hadn't already ruled the treatment can't take place, they've already long since raised the treatment costs?

Placeanditspatrons · 04/07/2017 07:03

I know I shouldn't have done but I replied to a comment about GOSH being murderers on the CA page. It enraged me.
I just commented that the hospital helps so many sick children, what possible reason could they have for not wanting to help Charlie if it were possible to.
My comment was deleted! It stood for about four hours and then someone st CA has deleted it!

I must admit I'm starting to lose some sympathy with Charlie's parents now. I know I have no idea how hard it must be and it must be truly terrible but to play it all out over social media?
It actually reminds me of labours momentum campaign. Loads of people saying we can do this! Attacking anyone who doesn't agree with them.
Social media is a curse as well as a blessing.

NorthernLurker · 04/07/2017 07:18

The army stuff has got so out of hand now it wouldn't surprise me if the parents feel quite intimidated themselves. With that scale of hype, they will surely wonder how these people will react if they announce they have removed the ventilator.

Alittlepotofrosie · 04/07/2017 07:36

I don't mean to sound crass but if charlie was a 40 year old man, there's no way he would have this "army". It's only because he's a beautiful baby. But if he remains in this state say forever, then thats what he would be. A 40, 50, 60 year old who can't eat, speak, or move and is in pain. And Charlies army wouldn't give a shit then. In fact they'd probably be in favour of withdrawing life support. this is no life for the poor baby. Whose benefit is it for him to merely exist like this? Certainly not his.

LogicalPsycho · 04/07/2017 08:33

Placeanditspatrons I did the same, and my comment was also removed within 20minutes.

After daring to leave a comment saying my thoughts (essentially what has been stated here, nothing nasty or insensitive) I had a strip torn off me personally, basically saying that I make [the person] sick, 'what is wrong with you', I shouldn't listen to GOSH or the Media, as Charlie has awareness and is not as ill as they say, ending with my attitude is 'disgusting from a mother yourself'.

Our thoughts aren't appreciated as they don't tow the CA and Parents' message, that he's being denied a future by baby murderers with medical degrees Angry
Sad
Connie Yates has also warned people via Twitter not to send their babies to GOSH because they'll lose their Parental Rights if they do.
It is absolutely beyond all sense and sanity.

Also, if Charlie's MRI had been faked as they say, and he did have awareness, why would they spend every waking hour fighting people on Facebook and Twitter?

Good point. Someone asked re the protest march if the family were happy. Apparently yes along as its away from the hospital. I wonder if they feel they can say no without a backlash and tube easiest is to comply but keep it away from themselves physically. If they concede taking him off the vent is best what fury will then endure on top of their grief? Is this a monster they can no longer control and which they fear

Alittlepotofrosie · 04/07/2017 08:46

The Charlies army page is making me feel a bit sick actually. "Give Charlie a chance at life"and "god bless donald trump". Fucking ignorant stupid twats.

sysysysref · 04/07/2017 09:00

Perhaps Donald Trump should spend a bit more time worrying about the children in his own country who aren't getting medical care which could actually help them due to insurance issues

Pomegranatepompom · 04/07/2017 09:01

MommaGee I don't think so as they wouldn't keep fuelling with the messages as they are. It's all desperate. j4

LogicalPsycho · 04/07/2017 09:18

The Charlies army page is making me feel a bit sick actually.

I think CA is split into two unequal halves.
The lesser are a group of naïve and misguided people who truly believe "A Mother always knows best" when this case has demonstrated this just isn't always the case, so they are just failing to accept the sad inevitability.

But the majority are a pack of disgraceful vultures who don't actually care that deeply about a baby they don't know, are encouraging false hope in Charlie's parents, and tearing strips off the decidated NHS staff in charge of Charlie's care- the NHS that they'd be the first to demand help from, if their own child was very ill Angry
How any of them still have the nerve to turn up at our hospitals for their free care and treatment disgusts me.

They're a hoard of armchair activists who seem to believe that by putting a

familyiswhatmatters · 04/07/2017 09:19

I'm sorry but after reading this thread Mumsnet makes me sick.there is 2 very sick little kids involved and you think now is the time to slag off the people involved especially there parents. There are a lot of people who don't agree with the publicity but without it how can these illnesses get funding and develop a cure or atibody to control the symptoms especially little charlie only 16 cases ever recorded.this is all about to very poorly children and you all have the ordasity to nastily and hastily comment on how these parents are coping with the most harrowing of circumstances.you should all be ashamed of yourselves.let the hating begin.

converselybranded · 04/07/2017 09:22

'Let the hating begin?' really? That just about sums up the intellect of these people doesn't it Hmm

Placeanditspatrons · 04/07/2017 09:24

Yes I was measured in my post. I didn't say that I thought it was time to let Charlie go or that I think they are in denial. I do. But I thought best not to.
I just stated that GOSH are not murderers and there would be absolutely no reason to stop treatment if there was a chance of recovery, but unfortunately many doctors have agreed that there isn't.
But even that is not acceptable seemingly.

Alittlepotofrosie · 04/07/2017 09:27

Where has anyone criticised the family?

People are criticising all those thousands of people who are NOT involved yet are trying to outdo each other with how much they love a little boy they've never met, and how many famous people they can twit to try and get them involved too. Oh yeah, and attacking a hospital, publicising the names of the medical staff who probably do actually love Charlie , what with the fact they've been caring for him all his life.

Can you just imagine if your child was due to go into GOSH for treatment and they heard about all the utter bollocks these fucking idiotic keyboard warriors have been spouting about GOSH killing babies? They'd be absolutely terrified because NONE of it is in context or perspective. It's meaningless soundbites for stupid people to feel better about themselves. Its absolutely unforgivable and despicable what these people are doing.

LogicalPsycho · 04/07/2017 09:29

familyiswhatmatters nobody has 'slagged off' his parents Hmm. RTFT.

converselybranded · 04/07/2017 09:29

Let's hope most sensible people taking their children to GOSH currently would just be appalled at the way the hospital and staff are being treated and shake their heads in disbelief rather than being scared. Can't believe it has got to this I really can't.

x2boys · 04/07/2017 09:39

lots of people on here have slagged off the parents maybe not on this thread but on the multiple other threads its the CA people that should be ashamed of themselves and anyone else offering false hope .

SeagullsStoleMyChurro · 04/07/2017 09:41

Unfortunately the parents are fully in support of the whole CA thing and encouraging it.

NerrSnerr · 04/07/2017 09:43

The FB page is really upsetting. There are still calls to stick him on a plane to go to the US. There is no consideration for Charlie. It can't be beyond everyone on that group to do some basic research on his condition and realise this poor child has no hope.

They are just missing the whole point. GOSH are putting Charlie first, trying to give him the best life and death possible in awful circumstances. It's tragic that he has this condition but no one can make him better .

familyiswhatmatters · 04/07/2017 09:44

What I'm saying is people are only trying to help the family. and this post and others like it are un called for and in very poor taste it's there child it's up to them what they post and share stay out of it

Doubledottvremote · 04/07/2017 09:44

There are people who are posting they spent 24/7 glued to their screens checking and fighting for Charlie. One woman says she can't sleep/eat/hasn't showered and is just constantly checking and is her first thought after a couple of hours sleep she allows herself. Her fb profile states she is a sahm to 2 kids. And had photos of them looking sad holding blue thjngs up.

The impact on her own kids of her being glued to a screen by her own admission isn't great.

The number of children who have appeared in videos where they are talking about Dr's being murderers is horrific.

Some of them honestly believe in a few years Charlie will be playing football for England. And will "show dem bastard Dr's u wer rite"

LogicalPsycho · 04/07/2017 09:47

The Hippocratic Oath states in its opening line:
First do no harm

This is why they have appealed to the High Court, so that they fulfil their obligation to their patient.
They will know that it is no longer in his best interests to keep him here when his brain is damaged at a cellular level, and continuing this futile treatment only prolongs his suffering. First do no harm.

They know he is suffering more by being kept on life support than being allowed to go peacefully and with dignity, because THAT. IS. THEIR. JOB.
The one they trained for years to do, in order to serve people as their physicians. They are dedicated specialists, and seeing the scorn poured on them and the hospital by ignorant keyboard warriors is deeply disturbing.

SeagullsStoleMyChurro · 04/07/2017 09:48

Nonsense family it's not" up to them" to post vile crap about a children's hospital and it's staff. They have no right to do that and it helps nobody. This is what people are annoyed about.

familyiswhatmatters · 04/07/2017 09:53

You no I'm sorry I ever joined Mumsnet to begin with your all just so pushy and cruel if someone thinks differently to you my opinion counts to

Redglitter · 04/07/2017 09:53

Someone's posted on FB about the latest photos of Charlie & how he's 'clearly thriving' Ffs he's nothing like thriving the wee soul is merely existing. And they can't wait for Charlie to read all this in the future Hmm
