AIBU to think that thousands of people loving charlie and bradley is some what false.

Lonelymummyof1 · 01/07/2017 07:29

I know exactly what It is like to have a poorly child same as hundreds more parents in the uk.
Set aside my belief that I believe that bradley has very little dignity and both him and charlie are now used as some weird sort of click bait.

The supporters I do not understand it ?

We love you, we are heart broken and we will miss you.

Now I get empathy but this is not empathy this is media posts just gone crazy to write the most heart breaking post they can.
I wish neither of these children would have to lose their life and can undetstand the parents pain just like the rest of the terminally ill children in this country.

You can feel sad that these things happen but this just seems weird and could not imagine allowing a nation of people watching my child pass away.

I mean how many of them 2 years from now will wake up on the morning of their anniversary and automatically remember them ?

I wrote this !
Guessing I will have a lot less friends by tonight
I would like to say a huge thankyou to the teams

Chelsea and westminister
Great ormand street
St marys
And kings college

Who have delivered exceptional care at the most difficult times and are the sole reason this little girl is here today.
A huge thankyou to the NHS who at the moment are going through some difficult challenges and to face further ones in the near future.

Thankyou for not only doing the best for sienna but for doing the best for children across the whole of the UK in the past , present and future.

We owe you the last amazing 3 years that we have got to enjoy her.

We believe in you and we believe your choices x

To the families we have met, spoke to and cried with.
To all the families who have had to make that decision to withdraw treatment, to say goodbye and sign a end of life plan.
We do not think you are murderers we think that each family will have their own reasons, their own feelings and most of whats best for their child at heart.
Can only hope that you know that it is was not morally wrong x

Slight feeling of hope because the bbc website are not reporting trump's tweet. Perhaps responsible news sources are going to ignore it. If only they did this with all his tweets.

MrGrumpy01 · 03/07/2017 16:43

'Ignoring' it just whips the CA into cries of media blackout and conspiracy and all other theories.

Apparently much more plausible then allowing a family privacy at this difficult time.

reallyanotherone · 03/07/2017 16:47

The bbc have reported it, but not in a positive way. Nothing on the case, just the politics in the us in that they're using it to back up their own lack of healthcare.

Ca, however, are delighted.

Lonelymummyof1 · 03/07/2017 16:47

On bbc now.
And the parents are who shared the links.

What I don't get is why.

Way do GOSH want him to die rather than be cured? Why have the lied about teat results and drugged his milk rather than paved a trailblazing path in curing Charlie.

According to CA logic obviously

Lonelymummyof1 · 03/07/2017 16:49

Are they not scared, I mean GOSH have permission to turn off the machine.
Surely the best bet is working with them.

The timing of this thing with Trump is dreadful.

I don't know when the life support is due to be removed, but if it had been planned for later today or tomorrow, how can they go ahead and do it now?
CA will claim it was only done to prevent Trump's offer of 'help' happening.
Imagine the levels of hysteria and conspiracy theories they will concoct!

This is completely awful and I'm becoming increasingly angry. Poor Charlie.

WashingMatilda · 03/07/2017 16:56

The replies to Trumps tweet are just ridiculous. Yeah, he's the best Hmm

AIBU to think that thousands of people loving charlie and bradley is some what false.
GinSoakedTwitchyPony · 03/07/2017 16:58

Momma one of their 'theories' about why the doctors want him to die is because if Charlie is treated in the U.S, they'll lose face. So they're trying to save face. YCMIU.

WashingMatilda · 03/07/2017 16:58

Can someone tell me - did the American doctor withdraw his offer of treatment after he realised how far gone Charlie's condition was? Can anyone link?

MommaGee · 03/07/2017 16:58

They'd already given them extra time. I Suspect GOSH will go with their approved plan and weather the storm

Puzzledandpissedoff · 03/07/2017 17:01

This is exactly why I spend very little time on Facebook and none at all on Twatter Hmm

And as I said on the other thread, it seems a matter of some regret that Charlie's parents appear once again to be whipping this up on social media instead of treasuring the time they have left with their little boy ...

SerfTerf · 03/07/2017 17:02

Are they not scared, I mean GOSH have permission to turn off the machine.
Surely the best bet is working with them.

They probably genuinely believe that GOSH "won't dare" go through with it if they can keep up the furore.

Maudlinmaud · 03/07/2017 17:12

I agree Serf, I believe they may think this is buying more time for Charlie. The parents are desperate and are willing to do anything. I've read the evidence and although I'm not a doctor I can understand the hospitals position. Why others cannot is slightly worrying, maybe I'm missing something rather than their views being wrong. The fact that the Pope and Trump have weighed in is making it all the more confusing. This all seems so undignified.
Poor baby.

MommaGee · 03/07/2017 17:18

Meanwhile Mr Trump's tweet this afternoon follows reports that he may drop in on one of his golf courses in Scotland during a visit to Europe later this month Geez have his poor parwnta not suffered enough???

The Pope commented he hoped the parents could care for him till the end. I thought it was actually a nicely worded delicate comment of support for their pain without judgement of the decision.

QuackPorridgeBacon · 03/07/2017 17:19

I find it sick that people who know he is going to die, it's inevitable even with treatment, want to give out this false hope by protesting to 'save' Charlie. How can they save a baby who is already dead, without the life support he is gone. With treatment, he is gone even if it takes a few months longer. Why would you want to put your child through that?

Why are charlies parents so obsessed with the media and posting conspiracies, when they should be spending time with their son. They seem so caught up in the attention of it all that (in my opinion) they aren't spending enough time with a child they are going to lose are they. They should be making memories as many as they can.

I knew someone while I was in hospital with my baby girl, she knew her daughter was going to dye. The doctors couldn't physically help her anymore as they couldn't get lines into her veins as she had no more that could take a needle. She was going to be allowed to dye, so no more treatment just pain relief. Her mum spent as much time celebrating everything she could, they had Christmas and Halloween and her birthday all way before the actual dates, she spent time with her made memories and pictures with her and had all the family roundto celebrate her short little life. That's what I am expecting from Charlie's parents, and given how much time they are putting into social media I don't see them doing gang of that. Sometimes you have to accept things no matter how hard it is.

newestbridearound · 03/07/2017 17:23

'Can the queen herself not over rule a court?
I think gosh is going lose all its funding after this ... Who the hell would send their kid there now'

You just can't make it up. I feel so sorry for the staff, poor Charlie caught in this shit storm and all the families/patients at GOSH just trying to quietly go about their business at what will likely be one of the hardest times of their lives.

reallyanotherone · 03/07/2017 17:31

The Pope commented he hoped the parents could care for him till the end. I thought it was actually a nicely worded delicate comment of support for their pain without judgement of the decision.

This. I thought is was "supportive" in that he realises the pain the parents are in, and hopes they can be with him til the end. It doesn't say either side is right or wrong.

It seems to have been interpreted as "support" for the parents meaning he believes they are doing the right thing.

LogicalPsycho · 03/07/2017 17:32

"Trump will save Charlie Gard- look, he's done it before!"
This has long passed beyond the realms of decency or sanity, and the hysterical keyboard warriors are lapping up this 'last minute reprieve' Hmm

I fucking despair.

AIBU to think that thousands of people loving charlie and bradley is some what false.

chupsmelad · 03/07/2017 17:33

You're right, you can't make it up.

Sitting here aghast. DH is trying to make the tea (we're on the Continent so slightly ahead of UK time) and rather bemused at my constant shocked updates on this story.

My sympathies remain with the parents and GOSH, but wow, this is something else. Poor Charlie. Shame on all these people with no connection trying to use him to score political points.

GinSoakedTwitchyPony · 03/07/2017 17:33

Agree with Serf's comment at 17:02:43

littlebrownbag · 03/07/2017 17:33

This is the first sensible online discussion I have read about this poor little boy, so thank you all.

It's a terrible tragedy for the parents, but I am at a loss when reading the hysteria. I have normally sane online friends in America who have started sharing posts about the evil socialism of the NHS and the evil ECHR killing babies - I politely corrected some facts and have stopped looking at responses.

Mind you, my opinions are also coloured by one of my parents who witnessed a younger sibling die of leukemia in the 1950s - by their account it was very traumatic and they have made their feelings on end-of-life care known quite forcefully.

GinSoakedTwitchyPony · 03/07/2017 17:34

Also agree about the interpretation here of the Pope's comment but CA have twisted it beyond all recognition!

SerfTerf · 03/07/2017 17:38

but CA have twisted it beyond all recognition!

So have The Guardian. The DM are reporting it more in line with the sensible interpretation, oddly enough.
