I posted a thread about my daughter going to the royal opera house / her amazing ballet teacher.

DD has a life limiting illnese ...has various tubes.
Loves loves ballet.
3 months ago she met her ballet teacher as a part of school but unfortuntly could no longer attend die to wbc etc
So ballet teacher offered her weekly 1-1 sessions and refused payment.
She then organised the trip to the royal opera house and took DD aswell which was an amazong day.
Daughter needs alot of care and I had an important meeting one day and she was the first to offer to have DD.
So she took her to the park for the day and has learned everything she needs to know.
Trained by CCN team in the tubes and emergency care.
Is doing a marathon to raise money for DD's illness.
Comes to visit her / does lessons with her when DD is in hospital even bringing gifts.
I was unable to get DD to ballet for her next lesson so she offered to pick her up from home and take her, then I will pick her up.

I have never met anyone so kind and she so unphased by the medical side.

Just thought it was nice to share a kind story for once !

What a wonderful story. Your daughter is truly so lucky to have a mother like you and a friend like her.

VodkaLimeSoda27 · 28/06/2017 19:04

A beautiful story, and what a lovely friendship ❤

ZebraOwl · 28/06/2017 19:26

Am glad it went so well. Lots of the people in that photo of the company are exceptionally lovely so am sure your DD enjoyed hanging out with them Smile

ZebraOwl · 28/06/2017 19:31

Oh & it'd be worth looking out for the One Dance UK Awards when nominations come round again (Above & Beyond category): www.onedanceuk.org/tag/dance-teaching-awards/

foodiefil · 28/06/2017 20:58

Aww how lovely! Thank god it was positive all the way through I was anticipating a twist ❤️ (shows how my mind works...)

April229 · 28/06/2017 21:32

Were you not the same poster who wanted this teacher to spend less time with your daughter, despite how kind she was being and how happy she made your daughter?

I imagine it might be a good idea for you to delete the previous thread, it might be a bit awkward... I think if she read it she would feel too hurt to accept any awards you nominated her for.

How awkward given how kind and lovely she has been.

Definitely contact the RAD. Actually do it with a firm suggestion that DDs teacher is asked to contribute to the curriculum for teachers or any continuing professional development on inclusive teaching. Get her appropriate professional recognition for her teaching AND have her show the way to others: win-Win.

FriendPlease · 28/06/2017 22:04

that's wonderful, OP, thanks for sharing. Such an uplifting story. She sounds like a an amazing lady but so do you and your DD.

Lonelymummyof1 · 28/06/2017 22:09

April no i never thought that at all, re read the post.
I have never had a problem with her them.
My friend had questioned me on whether the ballet teacher, would be sad and upset if anything had happened to my daughter and it made me think.
In fact I was thinking about the ballet teacher not at all horrible about her !

Lonelymummyof1 · 28/06/2017 22:13

Also never said once I wanted her to spend less time with her.

I was worried for both of them

DD has a very big attachment for her ballrt teacher however health wise ballet might not be a option in the near future and my friend had past comment on how DD woule feel if she dissapeared and how the ballet teacher would feel if anything happened to Daughter.

You made it sound spiteful when all it was, was me being sensitive that possibly the teacher would be left sad.

I don#'t think you have anything to worry about the other thread, lonely. It didn't come across as spiteful at all.

Lonelymummyof1 · 28/06/2017 22:46

I actually think I did nothing but praise her on it haha

Maybe she is talking about a different one ?

LiquorsOnDeck · 29/06/2017 20:08

How wonderful........you have a beautiful daughter xx

okeydokeygirl · 29/06/2017 20:50

I was waiting for the "and then she did this...." and it never came. So lovely to hear a positive story. I went to a seminar this week and someone talked about how although it is lovely to give public praise, the most appreciated is a simple personal acknowledgement. Of course she is not doing what she is doing for acknowledgement at all. But maybe just say thank you to her directly and how much what she has done has meant to you and your daughter. That will probably mean more to her than any award. Thank you for sharing. And many good thoughts to you and your daughter.

Reebs123 · 30/06/2017 00:03

Sorry to hear about your DDs illnesses. 💐 Nice to read about caring people for once. X ❤️

salsmum · 30/06/2017 03:13

What a beautiful little girl you have I can see why her friend has taken her under her wing. My son worked in the ROH and they are lovely there.

BuggerLumpsAnnoyed · 30/06/2017 06:04

Thank you for this! My news feed is clogged up with awful stories about the state of the world and I was despairing a bit this morning. This has really brightened my day!

Deejoda · 11/07/2017 19:27
