Men's short sleeve shirts

RoseVase2010 · 27/06/2017 10:28

Are they the most wrong item of clothing ever?

I can't stand them! Wear a t-shirt or wear a long sleeve shirt, not their ugly bastard love child. There possibly one of my biggest turn offs for a man.

There, I've said it! It's off my chest 😂 as you were!

Short sleeves are the devils work. Dh bought himself a short sleeved short for our wedding, and I considered calling the whole thing off and joining a convent.

OhOurBilly · 27/06/2017 16:00

DH is a bouncer, he prefers a short sleeve shirt as it can be really quite warm and sweaty standing inside a club/pub for hours. (He used to hate being made to wear a stab vest) He does have lovely arms. Getting shirts though fit him is a bloody nightmare though.

WillowWeeping · 27/06/2017 16:07

There's always an exception to the rule: I suspect Bella Hadid can make white leggings and an Asda tunic top look good perhaps not

Men in short sleeved shirts look frumpy. Terrible look.

Helendee · 27/06/2017 16:19

My DH wears them and I think he looks great in them, much smarter than the usual t-shirt. I didn't realise short sleeved shirts were so reviled. How odd!

Scrumpernickel · 27/06/2017 16:23

last week he caught himself in the doors on the tube and a great chunk of hair was left on the tracks somewhere between Finsbury and Cockfosters

Grin

The perils of being a furry man!

DollyMcDolly · 27/06/2017 17:58

My DH wears them sometimes and I hate them. I prefer long sleeves rolled up for some reason

ForalltheSaints · 27/06/2017 19:26

The OP will be glad I don't wear them.

jarhead123 · 27/06/2017 19:30

YANBU! Short sleeve shirts are ugly. Rolled up long sleeves are hot!

PickAChew · 27/06/2017 19:50

DH has a couple of checked linen ones, which are lovely (and much cooler than a t-shirt) but mostly rolls up the sleeves on his long sleeved ones.

Dismissing all short sleeved shirts as frumpy is as silly as dismissing straight legged jeans or pixie cuts as frumpy.

Yes! This! I hate it but love long sleeves rolled up to elbow?!?

Rolled up shirt sleeves are sexy.

Short sleeve shirts are the polar opposite!

True. Why is that?!

nina2b · 27/06/2017 19:53

Pixie cuts is a cute way of describing a frumpy hairstyle. Sometimes.

nina2b · 27/06/2017 19:54

Pixie cut...

FelixtheMouse · 27/06/2017 19:55

Short sleeved shirts come from the same stable as socks with sandles. Nothing can make them right.

nina2b · 27/06/2017 19:56

Short sleeved shirts go well with stay-pressed beige slacks, beige socks and sandals.

TheMasterNotMargarita · 27/06/2017 19:58

This is a very funny thread.

Loving the short sleeve love but there are only a few who do it well as evidenced here.

Also..

Magnum PI. And

My dad 😂😂😂

Casual short-sleeved shirts: fine

As office wear: looks like you work in the post room

VelvetSpoon · 27/06/2017 20:03

It depends on the shirt.

Short sleeved 'formal' shirts in the office - ugh. Especially if worn under a suit jacket.

Casual short sleeved shirts in hot weather/ on holiday where a collared polo is too casual - fine.

The rolled up sleeve is fine if you're a skinny armed man, but otherwise it's impossible to roll beyond mid forearm.

i hate the rolled up sleeves look as reminds me of dave cameron when he was trying to look 'working class' when out in factories and so on.
give me short sleeves any day - they must be cooler in hot weather too and dont look that bad.

David Cameron looked attractive in such situations...

nina2b · 27/06/2017 20:05

Buttoned up polo shirts are cool.

Redredredrose · 27/06/2017 20:12

Hideously unsexy. Especially worn with a tie, god forbid.

DP wears long sleeved shirts rolled up to the elbow and looks gorgeous.

nina2b · 27/06/2017 20:17

Hipsters think they are old men. Yuch

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 27/06/2017 20:18

just very wrong

especially if they are lemon coloured or even worse lilac (shudder lilac shirts were popular about 15 years ago)

ok if they have nice arms and have rolled the shirt sleeve of a long sleeved shirt up very high

SnowiestMountain · 27/06/2017 20:20

LOVE rolled up shirt sleeves, absolutely hate short sleeved shirts, almost all the men in my work wear them but it's definitely that type of industry, bless them!!
