Men's short sleeve shirts

RoseVase2010 · 27/06/2017 10:28

Are they the most wrong item of clothing ever?

I can't stand them! Wear a t-shirt or wear a long sleeve shirt, not their ugly bastard love child. There possibly one of my biggest turn offs for a man.

There, I've said it! It's off my chest 😂 as you were!

Fair play bubbles - there are exceptions. I'm sure TomHardy has worn one at some point too Grin

MineKraftCheese · 27/06/2017 12:18

What about short-sleeved suit jackets? Grin

Sweet mother of God, is he wearing a terry towelling playsuit?

CasperGutman · 27/06/2017 12:24

They're fine, if you're a bus driver.

Deploycharitygoats · 27/06/2017 12:26

Nope, Daniel Craig needs to put a proper shirt on. And as for Sean... there are no words.

They're pretty unstylish. To those claiming their partners look good in them, does he match them with boot cut jeans and a pair of clumpy boots? If so, I'm sending Gok Wan round to sort him out.

Umbrellifera · 27/06/2017 12:36

Scrump I believe it's called a romper, although wouldn't it kill the mood for romping, or am I massively out of date?

Umbrellifera · 27/06/2017 12:43

The man Vin here seems to be rocking the look.

A short sleeved shirt looks nice

Much better and smarter than a t shirt,

I hate t shirts!

pigeondujour · 27/06/2017 12:48

If you overheard a man saying, women wearing shorts rather than skirts or women wearing a dress or skirt abover her knees was nasty in HIS opinion, would you think, "oh well it's his opinion and he's entitled to it" or would you think " people should wear whatever they damn well chose to wear"?

Pretty sure Ugg boots lasted for aaaages and a LOT of men hated those.

blueirises · 27/06/2017 13:07

Hipsters! I blame bloody hipsters. Stupid short-sleeved shirts and beards. You look a bit crap, mate.

So it's probably a bit of a young person's thing. I'm old, me.

The80sweregreat · 27/06/2017 13:11

I wish i was a bloke sometimes, shirt and trousers for work - maybe shorts on holiday or just at home - t shirts. sorted.
dresses look odd on me - i hate most of the fashions for women and not slim enough for shorts out and about anymore. buying a swimsuit is a minefield at my age and i hate wearing bras ( but i have to)
i think men have it easier really.

Umbrellifera · 27/06/2017 14:01

blueirises what's the betting the hipster look will get the same reaction in a few years hence that this would get now? -

surely they are needed in very hot weather though - think long sleeved ones with rolled up sleeve do look better but short sleeved ones are fine. Women general commit many more faux pas in hot weather. the current cheeks hanging out of shorts is terrible, see through tops - no and as for crop tops, possibly the worst looking item of clothing ever invented! (also hate skinny jeans - but realise Im in a minority here)

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 27/06/2017 15:10

To those claiming their partners look good in them, does he match them with boot cut jeans and a pair of clumpy boots?

Nope, he wears them with normal jeans and trainers. And he looks exceptionally hot in them.

Some nasty opinions in this thread over a shirt.

Amanduh · 27/06/2017 15:13

Nicely fitted short sleeved shirts look lovely in warmer weather. Especially when a tshirt would be too casual.

Socksey · 27/06/2017 15:13

My DH wears them as he's not the tallest in the world and otherwise his shirts would look as if designed for a gorilla... the sleeves on a standard size 17 or 18 shirt are ridiculously long (if you're 5'4") so he always wears short sleeves...

DappledThings · 27/06/2017 15:23

DH works in a hospital and anytime he's in a clinical area he has to be bare below the elbow. So short-sleeved shirts much easier than continually rolling sleeves up and down.

2rebecca · 27/06/2017 15:31

I dislike short sleeved shirts too. I don't mind them on elderly men but younger men look better in t shirts if a shirt isn't suitable.

Umbrellifera · 27/06/2017 15:35

I agree WhatToDo, pp on here have been shirtist and bellyist. Hirsutism is no laughing matter if it affects you. Only this morning I shaved DH's neck hair so his shirt collar didn't rub. I make him tuck in too, last week he caught himself in the doors on the tube and a great chunk of hair was left on the tracks somewhere between Finsbury and Cockfosters.

Ericaequites · 27/06/2017 15:43

Short sleeved shirts on men are appropriate, cooler, and easier in hot weather. They can be worn with a summer suit or blazer, but never with designer trainers.

TheNaze73 · 27/06/2017 15:43

I think men in short sleeve shirts with a tie, look like cabin staff. A look to be avoided in town for sure

hazeydays14 · 27/06/2017 15:49

It is so bizarre that short sleeve shirts look fucking awful but polo shirts are fine...

I recently snuck some of DPs into the charity bag.. they don't come near to fitting him now and were definitely from his teen years. The patterns were... interesting? Each to their own Grin

One of the major plusses of the recent heat wave was DP and his rolled up sleeves. Especially with his crisp white work shirts.. swoon
