to want to hack my nexplanon implant out

This is my second implant. First one was pretty uneventful apparent from some prolonged spotting on occasions.
However this second implant is AWFUL.
It been in a year and i've had intermittent breast tenderness and swelling pretty much since it went in. This was tolerable until about a month ago.
Now I wake up every night with swollen breasts that are so painful.
Throughout the day if i even catch my breasts I get pain. I'm literally at my wits end. The poor other half can't even glance at them sideways.
The thing is I can't get a GP appointment to remove it for the next few months and I literally want to cry. Dramatic I know!
Anyone else had these side effects.

This is my second time with it in for another 3 years, I do get breast tenderness but not like you have described and it's only on one breast for some reason.
Have you tried any pain relief paracetamol etc to see if that helps ?.
I'd have a word with your GP to find out why this time round it's having this effect on on you.
The only difference for me this time into my second year of my second implant and is getting more period pains and odd spotting. But it's not a bother for me .
Sorry to hear your having these side effect having sore boobs is horrid.

Paracetamol and ibuprofen do help ease the pain but i don't want to take it all the time. I did a week of max doses and it helped loads but as soon as i stopped it returned full vengeance. My GP has just said it's a normal side effect and it's only been in a year so I should try and carry on. There an expensive form of contraception if you don't keep it in for the three years :/

Can you try a GUM clinic to remove it instead?

MotherOfBeagles · 26/06/2017 17:01

Can you go to a local GUM clinic? When I wanted mine out to start ttc I couldn't get In at my GP but had a local clinic that did walk ins. Went and waited for my first appt and then they did the consultation and booked me an appt to get it taken out. Took two weeks total.

Also sorry that you're struggling I had an Implanon and then a nexplanon with no problems but my best friends is having hell with hers!
