To ask - Jeremy Corbyn - PM

MommaGee · 26/06/2017 11:04

There's stuff about how he thinks he'll be PM in 6 months. How the GLASTO coverage is a BBC plot to "see a MARXIST in power" etc etc but how?
TM is hardly going to call another election and Labor are likely to keep her long enough to get through the crap that is Brexit.

Apologies for all those thinking in thick but I don't see how JC has any even inkling of getting it, let alone a discussion on how much swing he'd need

I believe once the media hysteria and internet frenzy dies down people will see him for what he really is.

It's true he has turned off lots and lots of traditional labour voters including the majority of the armed forces. Sadly for the country this has probably led to increase in popularity of UKIP whom I'm sure will make a comeback. The traditional labour vote sure as hell won't vote Tory.

So from centre left to far right, that's the way I see things going..

Dawndonnaagain · 26/06/2017 19:53

The armed forces have never been traditional Labour voters. Never.

Merci, of course it's political. The housing was clad because the privately owned blocks weren't keen on the look of it. I fail to see how anyone could see how it is anything other than political.

traditional labour voters

Depends on your definition of traditional, Blair wasnt traditional Labour too much neo-lib about him

missdoings · 26/06/2017 20:00

I can't be arsed with these threads anymore, it's just bingo these days:

Nhs
Foodbanks
Disabled

Etc etc etc

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 26/06/2017 20:20

@Dawndonnaagain just to be a pedant, cladding isn't and wasn't only put up for appearances. It is also for insulation which is obviously a good thing for people's comfort and bills.

WavingBranches · 26/06/2017 20:28

Cladding is used all over the country Dawndonna. Even in the scuzzy bits that I know. Nowt to do with posh neighbours.

Mercime · 26/06/2017 20:48

Loads of buildings use cladding

I know it's an upsetting issue but it makes me despondent that people are so ready to believe things like this (the cladding was put there to placate the rich neighbours). It was insulation, it made the building look nicer which amazingly the actual occupants may have wanted!

BUT I work in an industry which competes for govt tenders. We have to literally tick a box to say our product meets safety standards. Afaik the govt bods who look at the application don't do their own independent testing. I wish they would as we spend a fortune on testing and certification which makes our product expensive which means we lose tenders!

KarlosKKrinkelbeim · 26/06/2017 21:17

I think the whole Glastonbury episode shows how corbyn is not smart enough to drive home his advantage. No point preaching to the converted. He needs to be where the unconverted are, rather than indulging in antics that make them think "what a bell end'.

Dawndonnaagain · 26/06/2017 21:38

It also provides insulation, yes. However, it was done on the cheap, unnecessarily so.

Dawndonnaagain · 26/06/2017 21:39

Karlos, you may have thought that, but I know of many people who didn't think that.

christinarossetti · 26/06/2017 21:43

The huge upsurge of young people voting that we saw in the GE rather shows that JC's is being very successful in 'converting' the previously politically apathetic, I'd have thought.

Mercime · 26/06/2017 21:46

Yes, he's done well to politicise the young. I remember being young and thinking Neil kinnock was amazing Grin

User843022 · 26/06/2017 21:54

'The huge upsurge of young people voting that we saw in the GE rather shows that JC's is being very successful in 'converting' the previously politically apathetic, I'd have thought.'

Yes as said earlier the campaign manager and the media bias have done very well to convince people that this object of derision 2months ago is now seemingly the saviour of the UK.

Mercime · 26/06/2017 21:55

Dh said if you need Pr call the company that work with either Jeremy Corbyn or kale Grin

user1487175389 · 26/06/2017 21:55

Yes, I would. I definitely would.

Oh, sorry, wrong thread.

histinyhandsarefrozen · 26/06/2017 22:01

Giving a speech at Glastonbury versus giving the DUP one and half billion?

Same.

KarlosKKrinkelbeim · 26/06/2017 22:04

No, he has succeeded in getting out a bunch of people who tend to be fairly left wing. It remains to be seen whether he can repeat the trick twice; but even if he can, it wasn't enough to win and it won't be next time. To do that, he needs to do a better job of addressing the unconvinced and he won't do that titting about at festivals. Good for his ego tho, which is, let's face it, all there is to him really

LittleBooInABox · 26/06/2017 22:10

He has enough time to get in next time with brain washing young voters with free education that isn't possible.

histinyhandsarefrozen · 26/06/2017 22:14

I think you're wrong- I mix with middle-aged, some centrist, some right leaning, 'quiet tory' types. They are Enraged at what's going on with may/incompetentbrexit/schools/Nhs- they might not love Corbyn like young people but they think this govt is an absolute traversty...

WhollyFather · 26/06/2017 22:16

If the confidence vote was about her personally, May would probably be obliged to resign but that would not force a General Election.

If a vote of confidence in the government was lost, it would.

Elendon · 26/06/2017 22:20

If the Conservatives want to get rid of someone they don't like they will do it. One only has to cast one's mind back to Margaret Thatcher.

The knives are being sharpened. They don't like it up them.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 26/06/2017 23:56

Why won't traditional labour voters vote Tory

They might under the right leader Thatcher won over many many traditional Labout voters

Boris would be popular across the board. I think May is staying around for a while yet her standing her ground will win over some

aquashiv · 27/06/2017 00:10

I've warmed to his anti politics on the basis they all lie and say whatever they can to get into power . .

I thought his appearance was rather Life of Brian at Glastonbury. Is he the Messiah? No he's a very naughty boy! Quoting Shelly to his adoring fans. I am rather intrigued to see if he can change society. He's our own Donald Trump wild card.

I think there would be huge change if he got in. ...who knows what might happen.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 27/06/2017 00:31

Why does Corbyn keep being referred to as a very naughty boy ?

I have seen this a few times on social media
