Loud garden party

Last year, neighbours 10 doors down had a garden party for their nine year old's birthday from midday to 11 pm. They had music blaring out at nightclub volume during all that time so that, unless you enjoyed that relentless bass beat and the screeching of the overexcited dj, at least 30 neighbours' gardens would have been a no relax zone for for the whole of that day. I remember thinking that I was glad I hadn't organised a party myself for that day as it would have been totally ruined. Same thing has happened today but we've got friends due at 7 for a barbecue and it's going to ruin our night.
My Aibu is this. I know it's during the day and only once a year ( so far this year at least) but surely when houses are so close together it's the height of selfishness to impose that level of noise for such a long time without at least letting your neighbours know in advance so they can be prepared. Aibu to expect some warning from neighbours if they are planning such a loud, long event so that I can adjust my plans accordingly. It's during the day, so I know reporting it will be a waste of time. Wwyd

It's a fucked up world when you need to jump through hoops with authorities to hold a rock concert in the middle of nowhere yet if you fancy a 12 hour rave on a housing estate well knock yourself out.

Think someone must have complained this time as volume turned down around 6pm to more bearable level. After a few periods of full blast then quieter, stopped completely by 9pm. Think I'm pretty tolerant but have heard quieter sound systems in officially organised gigs.

That is a looooong partay!

I would not be complaining at one day a year though.

We had a neighbour (gone now!) who played 2-3 hours of loud music every Saturday afternoon, and had a loud film on every Sunday evening for 2-3 hours. In addition, he came in at 1am on a Saturday morning every other week, waking us up, as he brought 3 or 4 people home from the club who all stayed til 3.30am!

But we tolerated it because the rest of the time we heard nothing. It's like he was noisy but not often enough to warrant a complaint.

YANBU. I had the delight of watching fat sweaty inconsiderate assholes from my window dancing near midnight with loud music as well. And it is always the same neighbor in our case. The rest are quiet and lovely!
