To suggest she pays half?

I broke my arm on Tuesday and have a stooky. The doctor said I cannot drive.

I am going to a friend's birthday party tonight at her house and had intended to drive as I don't drink. I had agreed to give another friend a lift. I called this friend on Wednesday to let her know and suggested we get a taxi instead and go halfs. My friend didn't disagree.

I called friend to confirm what time to pick her up she mentioned that she thinks I should pay for the taxis as I initially offered to give her a lift. She tinkly laughed after mentioning this. I laughed too and said fair enough I'll meet you there instead. Thinking she was joking. She wasn't. She has texted to say if I don't pay for the taxis there and back so won't be going.

Aibu to expect her to pay half? The cost would be about £5 each. Should I pay and never offer to give her a lift again?

If it was only a little broken obviously you should have paid my taxi.... Grin

PaulDacresFeministConscience · 25/06/2017 10:40

Ah, it all becomes clear now. Obviously she was thinking of that other definition of 'broken'... Confused

FFS is she simple? What exactly did she think you meant when you said 'broken'?!

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 25/06/2017 10:42

she has experienced Peer Disapproval and has not liked it! HAH!

I'd definitely sideline her as a friend...cheeky mare!

Berthatydfil · 25/06/2017 10:43

Bloody hell. ShockShockShock

I think the text can be translated as
I think I might have pissed on any chance if ever getting a lift again by not offering my dhs services so I will send a fake apology and blame my piss poor attitude and entitlement on misunderstanding of what a broken bone actually means, and cross my fingers.
I hope you never ever offer a lift to her again and if she ever has the bare faced cheek to ask either day an outright no or ask for the petrol money.

Berthatydfil · 25/06/2017 10:47

Sorry in my outrage my spelling has become terrible.

Frazzledmum123 · 25/06/2017 10:47

Oh I needed this, been feeling a bit crap about myself just recently for being a bit antisocial since having a baby and then you read things like this and think 'actually, I'm not such a nob after all!' Grin can't believe some people, so glad she came away looking like the prat she is. Hope you're arm is ok

paxillin · 25/06/2017 10:52

She has realised she won't get lifts anymore. Not just from you, there were so many witnesses who clearly expressed their disapproval, lots of other lifts and free dinners gone in a moment.

Bluerose27 · 25/06/2017 10:52

Oh so rude of her!!! If I were you I'd get the taxi myself, it's £5 there so not a huge amount (assuming you have it). And I'd let her pay for her own bloody taxi seeing as she was so cheeky as to suggest you pay it all. Call her bluff - See how she likes that

Foslady · 25/06/2017 10:54

Hadn't realised your arm was that broken??????

Because of course there's scales of brokenness to arms.....not!!! There is to friendships though.......

rollonthesummer · 25/06/2017 10:58

What a butch!

Did everyone at the party realise that you were going to be taking her but when she found out about your arm that she got her husband to drive her and not you?

emmyrose2000 · 25/06/2017 10:58

Sounds like a fake "apology" to me. She's just buttering you up so she can scab a lift in the future. I wouldn't even bother replying to her, now or ever.

Aeroflotgirl · 25/06/2017 11:03

My goodness, she has a front, it's only because she was embarrassed last night. Why did she not get her husband to give you a lift back then. You told her your arm was broken, why else you could not drive, what an idiot.

AlternativeTentacle · 25/06/2017 11:04

see you soon

'Not if I see you first.'

ShinyGirl · 25/06/2017 11:08

"Go fuck yourself" would be my reply.

GreenTulips · 25/06/2017 11:11

LOL - you really need to man up and use that broken arm to beat her senseless - silly cow

BitOutOfPractice · 25/06/2017 11:14

Bloody hell! She's got some brass neck!

InvisibleKittenAttack · 25/06/2017 11:15

I'd just texted back "interested to know, what level of brokenness would have made it OK for you to expect me to pay for your taxi?"

Madbum · 25/06/2017 11:16

Oh she thought it was only tiny bit broken? Well that explains it then!

What a twat.

reallyreallyreallyreally · 25/06/2017 11:17

I need to know what you're going to reply with...!! Grin

StealthPolarBear · 25/06/2017 11:18

Definitely go with invisible text

Boredboredboredboredbored · 25/06/2017 11:20

Don't reply. Silence says much more than words!

Madwoman5 · 25/06/2017 11:24

Entitled cow. Did you go and enjoy yourself without her? If she was that desperate to go, she could have....gulp.....not had a drink and driven herself perhaps?

Aeroflotgirl · 25/06/2017 11:33

Her issue was not that she did not believe you broken your arm and that you could not drive, but that she could not get a free lift and had to put her hand in her deep pockets and help pay for a taxi. Sorry, she is shallow and superficial and no friend, I would distance myself. The only reason that she text you, is because she was shamed last night.

pictish · 25/06/2017 11:38

Sorry, I didn't realise your arm was that broken. Confused

Sorry about your arm OP but this is gold. Grin

"You didn't realise my arm was that broken. Did you think it was just a little bit broken and I ought to have given you a lift anyway? Glad you were able to organise a lift for yourself where you didn't have to fork out for a taxi. I had a tenner going spare that I was just going to throw in the bin so that worked out nicely for both of us."

Would be my reply.

diddl · 25/06/2017 11:44

"Never mind last night was great see you soon'"

I'd be tempted to reply "Ah fuck off you selfish bitch".

Probably no reply is best.

She doesn't think much of you, does she-that you would offer a lift & then rescind it for shits & giggles.

Hope that you had a nice time last night.
