To suggest she pays half?

I broke my arm on Tuesday and have a stooky. The doctor said I cannot drive.

I am going to a friend's birthday party tonight at her house and had intended to drive as I don't drink. I had agreed to give another friend a lift. I called this friend on Wednesday to let her know and suggested we get a taxi instead and go halfs. My friend didn't disagree.

I called friend to confirm what time to pick her up she mentioned that she thinks I should pay for the taxis as I initially offered to give her a lift. She tinkly laughed after mentioning this. I laughed too and said fair enough I'll meet you there instead. Thinking she was joking. She wasn't. She has texted to say if I don't pay for the taxis there and back so won't be going.

Aibu to expect her to pay half? The cost would be about £5 each. Should I pay and never offer to give her a lift again?

Good stupid woman!

Theresnonamesleft · 25/06/2017 02:43

Cheeky cow she is.
Would have reminded her when she suggested you paid that she would have been paying anyway regardless. Petrol isn't free.

Cannot believe she didn't say oh it's ok I will see if dh can give us both a lift. Like a decent person would have

TheMysteriousJackelope · 25/06/2017 03:48

You were willing to give her a lift (before your arm was broken) but she wasn't willing to offer to give you a lift, or have you take a taxi to hers and then a lift from there?

I agree, no lifts for her.

SabineUndine · 25/06/2017 06:45

The message saying she wasn't going was clearly intended to guilt trip you into paying for taxi then.

I wouldn't give her the steam off my shit in future, if I were you.

Cheeky cow she is. No. Yanbu.

LottieandMia · 25/06/2017 07:23

😵 with friends like her, who needs enemies??!!

WindyScales · 25/06/2017 07:52

Wow! What a cow. That's good you told people at the party. If I heard a friend had treated someone like the way she treated you I would certainly think pretty badly of them. Well done for making her awful behaviour known!

2cats2many · 25/06/2017 07:57

I am literally like 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱 at this.

How can she think that's an OK way to behave. I just can't compute.

honeysucklejasmine · 25/06/2017 07:58

Did she apologise?

expatinscotland · 25/06/2017 08:00

So her husband was able to chauffeur her about anyhow. What a lousy piece of work she is! NEVER offer her a lift again. If she asks, say no. Fucking cheek of her trying to shame you into being her personal driver.

ChasedByBees · 25/06/2017 08:04

I would end the 'friendship'. Bloody awful way to treat someone.

LexieLulu · 25/06/2017 08:10

How skanky of her x

Aeroflotgirl · 25/06/2017 08:11

What a cheeky and rude woman she is. That would be the end of the friendship for me. Kindness is not in her remit, any decent person would have asked her husband to give you a lift. Not a very nice person she is. Mabey just mabey, her phone calls are for her husband to offer you a lift. I so hope so.

StealthPolarBear · 25/06/2017 08:18

We need an update op! Hope you enjoyed the party

StealthPolarBear · 25/06/2017 08:18

X post sorry

Designerenvy · 25/06/2017 08:29

Can't believe.. this...uanbu....she funds dreadful! I'd never offer her a lift again. ...ever !!! She sounds tight fisted and greedy !
Hope you enjoyed the party and ignored her for the night !

eddielizzard · 25/06/2017 08:33

wow. nice to know she's got your back...

Giddyaunt18 · 25/06/2017 08:36

Wow! YANBU, go without her!

Elland · 25/06/2017 08:42

What a crank! Surely the obvious thing would be her offering you a lift if her husband was happy to drop her off!

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 25/06/2017 08:53

Un-fucking-believable!! So she wanted a free lift from you regardless, and when you refused to oblige, she got one from her husband, who, let's face it, she could always have got one with - and didn't even offer to pick you up???
Fuck that.

Hope she really was suitably embarrassed at the party and never dares to ask you for anything ever again!! Shock

Rednailsandnaeknickers · 25/06/2017 08:57

talk about offering as a favour and it being interpreted as a due. Tell her she'll be missing out.

^^ THIS!! People who just take and take and think it's cos the world owes them something. Urgh!

Well done OP glad you mentioned it. Maybe just maybe she will reflect on her behaviour (unlikely but I always hope users can be redeemed!)

Mrbluethecatt · 25/06/2017 10:32

I got another text this morning 'sorry I hadn't realised that your arm was that broken. Had you said I would have got husband to give you a lift. Never mind last night was great see you soon'

OP posts:
rightwhine · 25/06/2017 10:35

What dictionary had she been reading to get a different definition of broken?

witsender · 25/06/2017 10:35

"that broken"?! Haha!
