AIBU?

To suggest she pays half?

I broke my arm on Tuesday and have a stooky. The doctor said I cannot drive.

I am going to a friend's birthday party tonight at her house and had intended to drive as I don't drink. I had agreed to give another friend a lift. I called this friend on Wednesday to let her know and suggested we get a taxi instead and go halfs. My friend didn't disagree.

I called friend to confirm what time to pick her up she mentioned that she thinks I should pay for the taxis as I initially offered to give her a lift. She tinkly laughed after mentioning this. I laughed too and said fair enough I'll meet you there instead. Thinking she was joking. She wasn't. She has texted to say if I don't pay for the taxis there and back so won't be going.

Aibu to expect her to pay half? The cost would be about £5 each. Should I pay and never offer to give her a lift again?

Don't even consider paying for her share of a taxi. You'd only be encouraging her appaling behaviour. Cheeky cow.

Have fun at the party. I guarantee that there will be a passive-aggressive text to the party girl from your friend saying that she would have loved to have been at the party and has been terribly let down by you. Grin

I may be having a psychic moment here but I bet she has had loads of lifts off you and never offered petrol money..... I have a friend like this, she will sometimes offer to pay for coffee , sometimes.....

don't cover for her. if anyone asks where she is bluntly tell the truth: she refused to split the taxi fare.

Send a cryptic message so she thinks she's getting a lift, gets ready but you don't turn up. If you word it correctly so you can take it both ways.

Perhaps just " Ok"

Could be read either way.

I wouldn't expect petrol money from a friend, or even acquaintance, to go to a local party. But paying for a taxi is different!

I like the idea of the cryptic message. But only if you're sure she is definitely being miserly. How was the text worded? Was it more like 'I haven't budgeted for cab fare so won't be able to make it' or 'if you don't pay my cab fare I'm not going'.

Jeez! What's wrong with people. Get a taxi yourself since she's too tight! And leave her at home bored or needing to pay double the half fare she could of paid!

Sorry I took some pain killers and had a sleep then had to rush out to the party. I just got home.

I texted back 'ok no worries'. I then fell asleep with my phone on silent so missed about a dozen calls from her. I tried to call her back but as I was running late I just got a taxi myself.

She was already at the party her husband had driven herAngry

Well I was pretty fucked Offed she could have offered me a bloody lift if her husband was able to drive her.

I got lots of sympathy for my arm (which is now covered with people's names and drawings) i made a point about mentioning the driving and not being able to give her a lift. She looked pretty embarrassed when most people just looked at her like wtf.

I ended up getting a lift home From a friend's brother as it was late and raining. He stopped at McDonald's!

She can get to fuck if she thinks she will be getting any more lifts from me.

Did she leave any messages when she rang a dozen times?
Was she ringing to offer you a lift with her husband but maybe thought that you were ignoring her?

Report
Mrbluethecatt · 25/06/2017 02:24

No she left a message the first call saying she wasn't going as I was expecting her to pay. She still didn't think that was fair. The rest were just missed calls no messages.

You broke your arm and she wants you to pay for the taxi and couldn't even ask her husband to give you a lift. I hope you embarrassed the hell out of her at the party. I'd have nothing to do with her again
