Why is no one talking about this?

Manchester terror attack, London terror attack, general election, Grenfell Tower fire... all hotly debated on my FB.

No one I repeat NO ONE NOT OBE PERSON has mentioned Finsbury Park terror attack on my FB.

Is this accepted racism? Do they not care about this because the victims are Muslim? Or, dare I say it, brown?

Can't believe the indifference!!!!

Talking about the blatant racism in this country may not be what YOU want, because it makes you uncomfortable well to f'ing bad if those people in Grenfell were white they wouldn't be dead now, if those men walking home from Mosque weren't Muslim they wouldn't be dead either, so sorry it makes you feel uncomfortable boo hoo but people are dead.
Also i can tell noone here actually knows any Muslims, well i live in West London and the Muslim community near Grenfell think it was deliberate to get rid of them because of the RIFE Islamophobia in this country, and we know the Finsbury Park was deliberate.. but yes lets not talk about it!

What attack are you referring to? One man died at Finsbury but it is not believed his death was caused by the attacker

All West London. All women and girls murdered purely for being women and girls. Misogynist hate crime is an epidemic. This puts it well: www.independent.co.uk/voices/extremism-misogyny-need-to-tackle-it-a7800411.html

No-one is talking about the guy shot dead in France or the one whose just blown himself up in Belgium either. Maybe people are just all exhausted of being over wrought about stuff and want to enjoy the sunshine and normal life. Plus I suppose it's not like there's a risk of more of the same. Seems to have been a one off nutter.

The really terrifying situations have been where there have been bombs involved or more than one person roaming with guns or knives.

Such a ridiculous post I don't know where to start. This attack happened in LONDON. The incidents in France and Belgium aren't as close to home.

Ahh yes people want to enjoy the sunshine, I wonder if they would be as adamant to enjoy had this been the Manchester or London attacks. Honestly that's an incredibly stupid thing to say I despair at some people on mumsnet!

Not a risk of the same thing happening? Even if that were true does it actually matter? People were still injured, someone still died but it's ok because it's a one off? This incident wasn't 'really terrifying' sorry were you there?
FWIW east London mosque had to be evacuated yesterday after a hoax bomb threat, acid was chucked over Muslim worshippers outside Clapham mosque and last night a man was arrested outside regent parks mosque for threatening to attack the worshippers, he had to be tasered.

Please don't spout such rubbish when you have no clue what you're talking about. The threat to Muslims at the moment is very, very real just like the threat to everyone else is also very real.

StrawberryMummy90 · 21/06/2017 13:34

And OP I feel the same as you, the silence has been very telling.

Trump hasn't uttered a word about it, nor have other world leaders as far as I'm aware. Celebrities (apart from a select few) have stayed silent. No vigils, no #pray4london, no anything really. It's all been completely forgotten about now. Even the response on mumsnet was NOTHING like the other attacks.

And yes, it is absolutely because the victims were Muslim.

StrawberryMummy90 · 21/06/2017 13:42

It's nothing new though there has been a double standard for a long time. Not so long ago I read an article about a pregnant Muslim woman who was violently attacked in a supermarket car park because of her religion, the attacker made it very clear it was because she was a Muslim. She begged for her unborn child's life but the attacker continued hitting her in the stomach, unfortunately she lost the baby.

If the roles were reversed and this was a Muslim man attacking a pregnant Christian lady because of her beliefs and caused a miscarriage, well, you can imagine the uproar and media coverage such a story would receive.

Goldenhandshake · 21/06/2017 14:12

I have seen a lot of discussion on it, and a lot of anger. People I know are disgusted and also fearful that this will only incite further attacks from both the extreme right as well as radicalised jihadists.

However, I know plenty of people who are sadly just not surprised by what has happened at Finsbury Park, this has been brewing, and the intensity with which the latest terrorists attacks have taken place, have spurred those right wing extremists into action they have been 'demanding' for some time.

I think there has been much more discussions in fact about this incident in which nobody was killed than the previous few attacks which were perhaps getting less coverage as they were becoming commoner. It seems to be a deceleration of faith of sorts to put on Facebook how horrified they are how sorry how very terrorist it was and to condemn islamophobia. Perhaos you have different friends...

NoLoveofMine · 21/06/2017 17:21

@ Again what has that got to do with Terrorism I've lived my whole life in West London so don't need your info thanks! You're just embarrassing yourself and showing everyone your racial bias and Islamophobia by deflecting and proving exactly what the OP has suggested, perhaps you should join the BNP or Britain First silly me you're probably already a member...

Is this aimed at me? What an absolutely ridiculous and rude post. I'm talking about misogynist hate crime which is rarely if ever named for what it is nor any real action taken on it so I should "join the BNP or Britain First" or am "probably already a member"?

If you'd actually looked at the horrific cases you'd have seen two of the three victims were Asian, not that any woman or girl killed is worth more or less than any other.

HaudYerWheeshtBawbag · 21/06/2017 17:21

All over my Facebook, I think it says more about your circle of friend tbh, that the media reports been raised.

Violetcharlotte · 21/06/2017 17:25

Very few mentions on mine (from my actual 'friends' that's is, lots of posts on some of the groups I'm in)

When we had the 1 minutes silence at work on Monday for the fire victims, we were discussing how many we'd had in recents weeks. I said we'll no doubt be having another one soon for the Finsbury Park victims. Everyone looked surprised and said they wouldn't have thought so?!?

Death toll?

Fab39ish · 21/06/2017 22:53

Nothing on my feed.

Italiangreyhound · 22/06/2017 13:11

Sorry, I was wrong. The man died at the mosque did die as a result of the attack. That post of mine that it may not be because of that reason was incorrect, and I've asked to have it removed.

Apologies.
