DS's 5th birthday party on Saturday. Temperature forecast to be 18 degrees so not super hot, but could be higher.

I am planning to put ice creams/lollies in a cool box with plenty of ice/freezer packs. Put box in shady place in church hall and hand them out to the kids at the end.

Is this totally unreasonable? Will they be melted, salmonella ridden splodrges?

You need towels to wrap them in it will be fine. No need to wet, dry is fine. Just insulate them straight from the freezer and they won't melt.

Update - it worked!

Party was this weekend. I wimped out and decided to do the ice creams at the beginning.

But when we got home 3 hours later, the left over ice-creams were still frozen in the cool box and I was able to put them back in the freezer.

It was 18 degrees outside. I had them indoors, out of direct sunlight, in a proper cool box (not a bag), with several freezer-pack inserts and lots of towels wadded up as insulation to fill all the available space.

Choc ices and lollies softened but didn't melt during the 3 hour period. Will be doing that again!
