Wibu not to go to graduation ceremony if it is 30c

Have a degree graduation ceremony on Wednesday. Just looked at the weather forecast and it is supposed to be as hot.as today. Today I have been melting and languishing in the shade and the prospect of putting on a cap and gown for a few hours in the scorching heat is making me think twice about going.

My mother will be disappointed but it will save two 2hr journeys in the car with my small children, one at rush hour. And dd1 would not have to miss school.

Aibu? Has anyone graduated on a scorching day? Am I going to melt just so my mum can get a red faced photo?!

I didn't go to my own Graduation - I did however feel very proud when I went to my DD's (it wasn't just about the photo, it was about seeing her achievement). On the other hand it wouldn't have bothered me if she had said she didn't want to go to the graduation.

I can see where you are coming from though - two hours with two children in a car on a hot day is tough. Is there any way of getting a photo of you in cap and gown done on another day if that is what is important to your Mum ?

This I my third degree- pretty sure she has the mandatory cap and gown pics from the first two, which is part of why I can't really be bothered. If it wasn't for the fact it would disappoint her I would already have cancelled!
