Nope not at all if they make a fuss tomorrow is over and done with and they would have been cooler

alltouchedout · 18/06/2017 20:20

I'd say ywnbu and everyone wore sandals when I was at school. Uniform rules do seem to have become strict to the point of ridiculousness though.

RenaissanceBunny · 18/06/2017 20:20

Send in sandals with shoes and socks in his bag. So if school object he doesn't end up in trouble all day.

insancerre · 18/06/2017 20:22

Are sandals part of the uniform?
If not, then , no, just send him in his normal shoes

Flamingoprincess1212 · 18/06/2017 20:22

Does he have plimsolls at school he could change into if necessary. More often than not it's a h&s Thing.

Should be fine though

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 18/06/2017 20:29

Please don't. Sandals are not suitable for school. They're just not practical for playtime, etc. Ditto fucking heelies Angry

QueenofLouisiana · 18/06/2017 20:30

What do they do about girls? Can they wear sandals? If they do, no problem. If they don't it may be due to accidents- scraped ties on the playground, skewered feet on chair legs etc.

I wore sandals to work on Friday and a child accident put their chair on my foot then sat down quickly and heavily. It took every ounce of my professionalism to ask him to move and say "owwww". Those were not the phrases in my head.

Sparklingbrook · 18/06/2017 20:31

What Lady said. They aren't practical at all.

followTheyellowbrickRoad · 18/06/2017 20:31

Sanders aren't allowed in our school at all

followTheyellowbrickRoad · 18/06/2017 20:32

*sandals

bridgetreilly · 18/06/2017 20:32

Yup, YWBU.

TheColdDoesBotherMeAnyway · 18/06/2017 20:33

Our school (generally very relaxed over uniform) have said catagorically no sandals because they are unpractical and the little ones are more likely to trip whilst wearing them than if they are in trainers. So no, I wouldn't.

TheRealKimmySchmidt63 · 18/06/2017 20:35

Thanks for replies I'll do the plimsolls

Sandals are not great for school. Put him in some light weight trainers x

Sparklingbrook · 18/06/2017 20:58

It all depends what the uniform list says. If it's shoes then plimsolls or trainers won't be ok.

TBF I would have rather had my 4 year old in their leather school shoes than either.

ShelaghTurner · 18/06/2017 21:11

How the hell are sandals more dangerous than when we used to wear them to school in the 70s? I don't remember hoardes of children taken off to sick bay with sandal related injuries...

Sparklingbrook · 18/06/2017 21:14

I wouldn't like to play football in sandals or have anything drop on my feet in them. Reception classes have sandpits etc.

I never wore sandals to school.

Plunkette · 18/06/2017 21:14

We live in Texas obviously it's wry hot much of the time.

Most kids wear shorts and t-shirts all year round. There's no uniform but there is a closed shoes only rule.

Open toes are not considered safe.

soapboxqueen · 18/06/2017 21:15

My ds wears sandals but they do cover the majority of his foot. His school are very relaxed about uniform.
